Dark Angel (w/ Jessica Alba) - Has this show aged well?

I grew up loving this show, primarily due to having a huge crush on Jessica Alba. Curious how well this show has aged. Can't find it on any streaming service for some reason but I'm debating whether to pick up the DVDs.

Anyone watch this lately?

The parallels are pretty insignificant, even as laid out in the article.

It was Battle Angel. As the article explains he was working on his script for Battle Angel in 1999 before doing the show. Robert Rodriguez eventually took that script (because Cameron was busy with Avatar) and adapted it into the movie that was released, and used most of Cameron's designs. That's why it looks like a James Cameron designed world.

I actually have video somewhere on an old DV tape of my friend and I meeting Cameron at Disneyland in 2005 and my friend bugging him about when he'll make Battle Angel. It went like this:

Cameron: "Well I'm making a movie called Project 880 right now..."
Us: "You mean Avatar."
Cameron: "Yea, Avatar. Then Battle Angel will be after that."

He never made it. But Rodriguez's version was fine since it was based on Cameron's script and designs.

It wasn't Battle Angel. It was something intended to be Battle Angel. There is a huge difference that you're missing.

I could shoot a shitty movie about cat zombies on my phone and say it was Battle Angel. It doesn't make it Battle Angel.

I enjoyed the show when it made it's first run. Not sure how well it's aged as I last saw it during a series 1 rerun back in like 2004. It would be nice to see it commercial free. Without researching, it also seems like James Cameron had a hand in this or am I confusing this?

The show didn't feel like a battle angel tribute, I love gunnm but really didn't like this show at all and didn't feel the connection. But you can't argue that battle angel wasn't the inspiration for it, Jim came out and said so himself. So I think you are both right

I loved this show back in the day and did own the dvds of it. I was always hoping that they would have a movie to tie up the show. The second season did go a bit crazy though. I have no idea if it has aged well.

I was thinking about this show a couple of days ago and was wondering if they could do a new version but I was left thinking that the somewhat corny hip hop style of the show would be lost in a remake, so this show should be simply left alone.

I also was kinda annoyed that Jessica Alba didn't become more of an action tv star.

Isn't it set...now or like 2019 or something

I watched both seasons when they came out, a long time ago, and thought it was pretty good. I was really bummed when they cancelled it. IIRC the way season 2 ends it leads you to believe the story will continue, but of course that was before it was cancelled.

It's really too bad. It feels like the story is incomplete.
