Dark Cloud 2?

I don't think you'd have any reason to play the first one. DC2 is 978236723679 times better, even though it has its own share of problems.

I don't think the storylines intersect at all, either.

I didn't play Dark Cloud yet, but I loved playing Dark Cloud 2. DC2 seems to be a completely new story and you definitely don't need to play DC to enjoy it.

I've been putting off playing this game for years because I thought I'd have to play DC1 first. If the DC2 storyline has nothing to do with the DC1 storyline--sold.

(Geez--that and Makai Kingdom on top of my backlog will pretty much take care of my gaming needs until winter.)

the first game has a better main character...mainly due to him being MUTE
everything else is better in DC2, just about

Alright my compusa didnt have darkcloud 2 for 9.99 so I said Ill give the original a shot and see how that goes and buy the second one later and I bought it (Still havent played it yet). So how is the first one?

The first one is "good" enough to make you swear off ever playing the second game (which is awesome, btw :b).

dark cloud 2 shits all over the first one, it's not even funny

FIRST ONE SUCKS, DONT PLAY IT

So true. Dark Cloud 2 is one of the very best PS2 games. Dark Cloud 1 is pain to nutsack.

I'm gonna play Dark Cloud 1 after Shadow Hearts.

I doubt it's really as bad as you all put it out to be.

Silly GAF groupthink, you guys will never learn.

Dark Cloud 2 is a love it or hate it kind of game (although most of GAF seems to love it). I was one of the minority that didn't like it. There's a lot of interesting ideas and gameplay mechanics packed into the game, but somehow they didn't gel for me. I usually like dungeon crawls, but the randomly generated dungeons in DC2 were lame. Definitely worth a spin at $10 though, you may enjoy it.

Not groupthink, it just doesn't hold up at all. It's like when you finally fuck a supermodel, and then you realize all the startling flaws your ex-girlfriend had. Dark Cloud 2 is so many times better than Dark Cloud 1 that even attempting to play the first has become a chore.

Dark Cloud is still a pretty good game, but it was improved upon in almost every way by DC2, but that's true of many sequels. That doesn't equate to meaning the first is unplayable.

For example, I enjoyed the Georama quite a bit more in the first game. They actually made is simpler and "dumbed" it down for the second game, dictating your options much more.

However, the first one gets a huge knock for that damn thirst idea. It really, really hurts the dungeon combat.

I did like that Weapons broke and made you be more careful with your maintenance, but the second handled weapons much better overall.

DC2 was renamed into "Dark Chronicles" in Sweden (and I think in the rest of Europe also). Don't ask me why.

I never played Dark Cloud 1, but I played Dark Cloud 2 and its been one of the best RPG's that I have played. A lot of people get put off by it because the dungeons can get tedious, but there is still plenty to do besides the dungeons. there are plenty of mini games and side quests that can keep you hooked for a long time.

Just played about an hour of it. Not liking it as of now hope it gets better.

The game gets better once you leave the main city. Which I think takes awhile.

I'm the biggest Zelda fan you will find, but I enjoyed DC2 > Wind Waker.

That being said, the game may not hit everyones sweet spot.

As ive said multiple times, its my favorite PS2 game. However, it really isnt for everyone. I just happened to really love the dungeon crawling/leveling up weapons a lot for some reason.

Hey, I liked Dark Cloud 1...in many ways the GAF groupthink as you put it is retarded (Bof: DQ, Maximo1, ZoE1, LM, DC1) but I still take the general bandwagon sway into consideration when when making suggestions for others

How the hell was georama dumbed down in the second game? In the original you placed down a house and stuck the proper accessories (people, chimneys, etc) into slots and then chose to face them north south east or west. In the second game you have much greater control over who lives where, and other things. Any chimney cn be placed on any house in any position facing any angle. You can even place down fences in any shape or type.

I did enjoy getting 100% in DC1 over the original but shaping a town how you want to in DC2 is much more flexible and complex to the point where the original cannot even attempt to match DC2

Thats good to know. I thought it was just going to be dungeon after dungeon. About how long is the game?
If you are prepared to doo all the dungeons, mini games and side quests, the game could take you longer than 100 hours+, although its not dungeon after dungeon because there are many other things you can do in between, the dungeons do get tedious at times. Each room/level in a dungeon is randomly generated, but it all feels the same and you have to do the same thing in each dungeon. It does get more exiting after this dungeon though, so you ahve something to look forwards to.

Thanks for the info ill probably clock in another hour or two of playing theme tonight.

I couldn't play DC2. Even though the original was the first game I owned for PS2 and I liked it, the sequel bored me...

I haven't play these in a while so I don't remember clearly. But I do recall not liking the georama in 2 as much as 1. There were more features for the houses, sure. I remember in DC1, i spent alot of time rearranging the rivers and houses and bridges to create a more unique layout on the large flat land. In 2, there wan't any room to do that. It would be perfect if they combine them for 3.
