DC Films Chief Walter Hamada Officially Exits

DC just can’t catch a break.

Walter Hamada has officially stepped down as the head of DC Films at Warner Bros. Discovery.

Hamada exits the studio after having worked at Warners for over fifteen years, and served as the President of DC Films for four years.
Zaslav had been open about a desire to bring in another Kevin Feige-style executive to run DC.
Hamada is expected to move on to another position as a producer or executive. He was reportedly offered another producing deal, but turned it down and criticised WBD’s decision to scrap “Batgirl”.
Current Warner Bros. heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy will steer the ship at DC until a more permanent replacement is found.

Dont know what to make of this guy. WB has had so many guys making decisions, its hard to say who was responsible for WW and who should get the credit for Batman and Snyder Cut.

The Batman

Aquaman was the first DC movie he oversaw. His DC had more success than his predecessor’s.
Aquaman was an objectively bad film. Joker is a one off that doesn’t forward DC. The Batman was decent but again doesn’t forward DC in any way. He also oversaw batgirl, Shazam, ww 1984 (worst dc movie ever), suicide squad, stiff armed Superman, alienated the real Batman Ben Affleck, and miniaturized the best parts of DC. Oh and black Adam is another example of a shiny turd that won’t be great just mediocre at best. He’s terrible and was clearly taking Dc along a disjointed and shoddy path vs building anything that could resemble a functioning universe. His obsession with shoving senior citizen Batman down our throats was ridiculous and audiences hated it. Anything else? Oh yeah Joker 2 being a musical is so tone def it hurts. Probably will get cancelled now we can only hope.

Awwww. Sorry, Timmy. But Batman isn’t actually a real person.

And if he was, I doubt he’d be a big fat idiot, like Affleck was.

Youre right on a lot of your other points though. Hamada oversaw the continuation of the failed DCEU. His departure is right.

His output was really disjointed though. Those were successes, but there was also birds of prey or whatever that thing was, ww 84, Shazam, is doing a mess with Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck. Also approved an enormous budget for a movie led by a violent groomer thing-person. Was he also in charge of the first suicide squad? Anyway, the movies that did well were not part of the overall DC connected universe, it was all over the place, and he was going to tank what little traction DC movies had gained, by woke-ifying the rebooted universe. Not a good look.

He wasn’t in charge until 2018. Had nothing to do with the first SS or Justice League, but that didn’t stop idiots believing whatever they read about him on Twitter for sending him death threats over Justice League. He wasn’t even there yet Ray Fisher incited a holy war on him over Joss Whedon.

You can't control what idiots do on social media though, idiots are born every day and find all sorts of hobbies to be idiots in.

I clearly know Batman isn’t a real person. I’m referring to the established timeline. If you think Afflecks Batman was an idiot the younger version in The Batman literally watches a bomb count down to zero and take it in the face AND is opening packages without screening them first. The Batman was full of idiot moves and poor forced writing to establish plot beats like that.

Hamada never actually promoted DC. All he ever did was one off films that loosely fit in the same universe and were going nowhere. His understanding of characters and where people fit in with eachother was absolute trash tier.

you definitely need IMO, on this because it's a horrible fucking take. Shazam is awesome and so is The Suicide Squad. also 1984 can't be the worst DC movie when the OG suicide squad exists. And I was hyped as hell for Michael Keaton returning to Batman. I'd love a live-action Batman Beyond with keaton as crippled bruce.

Tough one they will never be Disney/marvel

He's probably being scapegoated somewhat. Some films did well, some did poorly. It's to be expected.

Joker alone should have somewhat saved him. Even though I didn't like it made an absurd amount despite being rated R and cheap to produce. Also was critically acclaimed to a degree even marvel hadn't achieved.

He didn’t even start until 2018. Stop drinking the crazy Twitter bot Kool-Aid.
Yeah because the DCEU outputs released between 2018 and now has been very good... Oh wait.
And you need to stop referencing Twitter, you criticize it but you seem very informed about what is said on that shit hole while I couldn't care less.
I forge my own opinion, it is not because we don't agree that I'm an idiot who doesn't know shit.

If it weren’t for WW84 and The Suicide Squad releasing during COVID when theaters were shut down, his tenue would’ve made more money than his predecessor’s.
If money was meaning quality, COD would be the best game ever. But we both know it is not the case.
Not to mention that Joker was made with minimum budget because those exec didn't believed in the project, and finally I'll add that this excuse of COVID is proven wrong, we have movies that did really really well (hi Sonic 2, GvK & Mortal Kombat, with the two later releasing in the same context as WW84 and TSS).

But maybe you think it is normal for DC to not have a MoS II almost 10 fuckin years later. You do you.

Are you seriously trying to argue that the same number of movie theaters were open in December of 2020 vs April of 2021 when MK was released? You realize there’s documentation on that, right? MK opened in 1000 more theaters at a time when people were going out more. WW84 opened in less theaters in the middle of lockdowns.

Lmao you are picking WW84... How about those other movies I mentioned, comparing them to TSS?
Conjuring, FF9, Cruela, Shang-Shi etc... many movies released in the same time period and did good money. And same goes for GvK and MK, again we are comparing TSS here not WW84.
And anyway WW84 bombed because it was shit, that's it.

Woo hoo! The DCEU is back, baby! It’s going to be clear sailing from now -

Oh you mean the site that think She-Hulk is "certified fresh"?
RT is the worst that happened to movie critics. And I fail to see the point of this post, as the future of the DCEU is (thanks god) absolutely not connected to RT.
And it currently sits at 7.5/10 on iMDB:

Did you saw it to criticize it or are you just following the direction of RT? I think I know the answer.

Don’t worry Ezra Miller will save it.
If The Flash is as good as it seems (I'm sure you know that test screenings have all been very positive), it might just be.

Dude. Chill. It was a joke.

I hope you’re prepared okay in case it flops.

This has to be a troll post.
Oh wow great arguments here

Uh Huh Yes GIF

You understand I'm commenting on the movie, not the person (who is an absolute ass and, as I already stated in this forum, he should be in prison), right?

I have no money engaged in this, I don't give a shit if it bomb. But I enjoyed it. I just wanted a good action movie with Black Adam, and it is exactly what I got.

Start ALL OVER again.

Never going to happen. Sunk cost fallacy.

They should junk everything other than what Reeves is doing and start over with the other characters... but they won't, because it would be too expensive, and too much like actual hard work.
