Anyone have any suggestions for a good but affordable metal ddr dance pad that I could use with StepMania? I used to have a pad that I used on my ps2, cost me like 150$, but I think the quality could have been a bit better!

Looking for around that same price range, $150 or less. There's so many out there I don't want to get something that's utter crap.

Thought I'd bump it Anyone know of any cheaper, semi-reliable metal pads? There's so many out there and it's hard to tell absolute crap from something that's going to work.

Or if anyone has any idea on decent pads that aren't metal. I'd take anything at this point.

Search for a Cobalt Flux. By far the best metal pad I've used. Try craigslist? ebay? With a some luck you will find people selling them.

I bought one from ebay almost 10 years ago and it still works perfectly.

Its possible to just build your own. I made my doubles for about $250 including parts and getting arrows printed.

They have been working great for almost 15 years now. The instructions are still online.

The Omega GX/ITGx holds out pretty well on high level charts. It's thin and light so much easier to carry around and set up then most other hard pads.

Pretty expensive though.

I may look into this. Is the process relatively simple? I'm a pretty handy guy as it is anyway, just lack a lot of tools. This may be the road I go down because 300+ is just too much for me currently to drop on a pad.
