Where do you stand on the death penalty? If you support it, doesn't the fact that hundreds of death row inmates have been exonerated shake your faith at all? I used to to support it, but started questioning my stance as I read more about it. I no longer believe that it should be used.

I gave the death penalty to many a demon in Devil May Cry 3 tonight. I'm Judge, Jury, and SwordMaster.

I think that any death row inmates who fight their way out of haunted island prisons should be automatically exonerated.

Seriously though, I don't think it should be used. If even one innocent person dies, well then we've really made a mistake. Then again, if some dirtbag came into my house and did something to my family...I'd want to see them tortured and killed.

I had never seen it before tonight. Didn't even know what it was called. Good episode and I think it is something people never see about the death penalty and it will hopefully make some people think about the implications of capital punishment.

I'm in favour of the death penalty for extreme crimes with irrefutable evidence only.

Like posting in the wrong forum.

Nah, death penalties are insane. You can never be 100% sure if someone is guilty or not. Luckily they are not used anymore in civilized world.

First I'll say that certain people need to be put down. I don't think that the government should be in the business of expressly stating that murder is wrong and illegal, and the consequence of such is that "we get to do what we said not to". Moreover, it's way to easy to get the wrong person and there is way too much bias, corruption, and neglect in the justice system for it to be executing people. It's also cheaper to incarcerate people for life than it is to execute them. And the death penalty has never been a deterrent to crime. If so, it would have stopped thousands of years ago. The death penalty is basically for revenge, and it only has the benefit that said person will never commit another crime. On the balance, It's a waste.

Yep. The stats regarding the state of Texas are fucking disturbing. Just solidifies my resolve to never visit, drive through or even fly over that fucking state.

If the evidence is irrefutable, and the crime is severe enough, fry 'em. Otherwise fuck the death penalty and anyone who defends it.

I support it as long as the condemned choose their manner of execution, and the execution is held in public.

...

I can't say I support the death penalty, and don't really see it's use in today's (or yesterday's) world..

Someone above mentioned that it was used for revenge, which seems to be on track. I would say it's made to make them suffer and for revenge.. but the thing is.. it seems like the death penalty is the easy way out. Life in prison seems quite a bit worse to me. So if you wanted them to actually "suffer" more.. I'd say through them in prison for life. Not that I support extreme suffering either, though.. :D

Good in prinicpal really bad in practice. I would be for it if a legal system existed that wasn't biased. Since one does not exist the death penalty is a joke.
