Oh yeez, another trailer about the revolutionary dual sense 🕺

Interesting. Does anybody actually like the haptic feedback in their games? I thought it was popular. This thread has me thinking differently.

It's great in Astrobot, and actually feels like a substantial addition to the game experience. I honestly don't remember it much in Demon's Souls. Those are the only PS5 games I've played.

I love it. Returnal felt exceptionnel.

I hope Arkane implements it a bit differently as i would like to see how other developers utilize it.

Haptics are fantastic, feel miles better than on and off rumble. Adaptive triggers is a hit or miss. If well implemented can add to the imersion, if bad implemented can get in the way of the gameplay and is better to turn it off.

I'm on the fence with this one. Whilst Arkane games appear to do well critically, I don't think I have finished any of their games as I've always found them a little tedious after a while.

It's a bit disappointing that the "Next gen" trailer for the version coming to this new $400 console focuses almost entirely on features of the $70 controller.

Gun jamming...? Eh.

I don't really love adaptive triggers. It's novel but it actually gets annoying and I've noticed if you click in too quickly it sometimes won't register so you have to let go of the trigger and click in again. Haptic feedback is cool though when they put in the work for it. Ghost of Tsushima's haptics are amazing.

These threads always make me wonder how many of you regularly use real guns. I just can't fathom how it feels immersive. Trailer was cool though.
I've used plenty of guns in my life and do trapshooting competitions. Does the controller simulate a trigger exactly? No. But it's better than no resistance at all. It's also optional, so there's no downside to including it in the game.

No issues with those who like it. I just don't understand how it's immersive. I've asked a few times before and never really got much of an answer. Doh well.
Peace.

It just makes me feel connected to the game, I don't think it simulates the real feeling of firing a gun, although I've only fired shotguns and low-caliber rifles, not automatic weapons. Games generally aren't about simulating real life from my experience, well not the ones I play anyway.

Thing happening on screen and thing happening in hand, feel good, nice time.

Aside from 60 frames It's the best thing that's happened for consoles this gen in my and many other's opinion.

Depends on how it's implemented - ratchet, Astrobot and returnal did it well - others nah
I think Ghost of Tsushima has the best implementation by far. You can feel the difference of wood planks and solid earth when riding on the horse.

WRC9 was also insane.

I can explain that. On Ghost of Tsushima you can feel the tension subtly as you pull the bow back before shooting an arrow. It's immersive enough that when you go back to regular controllers it's a night and day difference. You really can't go back.

Me watching this trailer: that looks cool.
Me playing the game: where do I turn off this sh*t?
You philistines can shut it off. In fact, I'll take your haptics for myself and you can wallow in your lack of immersion.

Ahhhhh yes. Controller speaker. My most hated thing about dualshock 4 and dualsense.

Iirc for Dishonored remastered or whatever you couldn't turn the speaker off, or you wouldn't hear the heart

I've played both Dishonored games on PS4 with speaker off and could hear the hearts.

I'm one of the bellends who thought Control's implementation was great, I didnt really notice the footsteps much and I loved how the guns felt to fire. When I had my fully completed build for Spin where I could fire it for like 30 seconds straight without stopping it felt so silly and great - like playing Crisis Zone or Teraburst in an arcade. Pierce felt nice too and I liked that a lot, was even more intense when I had the unique mod that made it fire instantly. Shatter with the 0-spread mod was fun too.

Problem with PS5 games from what I can tell, there is no way to turn off the controller speaker and have the sound routed to your speakers. Turn the volume to 0 and you basically mute that channel out of existence. Massive issue for theatre headphone users.

Control haptics were awesome. And the feel to the characters steps really made it feel connected. Loved it.
