Demon Slayer for PS5, Xbox Series X, & More Gets Epic Gameplay Trailer, Release Date, & More

Today Aniplex released another new trailer and new details of Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hinokami Keppu Tan or Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles, as it’s known in English.

The trailer provides a clearer look at gameplay, which certainly appears to include a lot more than the arena-style battles we have seen so far.

We also learn that the release date in Japan is October 14 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. There will be a standard edition, a deluxe edition, and a limited edition including a figure with smartphone stand.

We also get to see the box art drawn by Ufotable.

We learn that the single-player mode will follow the story of Tanjiro Kamado until the Mugen Train arc, including plenty of fights against the demons from the anime.

The versus mode include 18 characters including 12 from the anime plus the six from Demon Slayer Academy. It’s possible to create tag teams of two characters each.

Last, but not least, new gameplay will be revealed at the Aniplex Online Fest 2021 on July 4, at 2:00 pm Japan time.

The Demon Slayer game Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hinokami Keppu Tan is currently being developed by CyberConnect2. If you want to see more, you can enjoy the trailers showing Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko, the trailers for Zenitsu and Inosuke, the one for Giyu Tomioka, the videos introducing Sabito and Makomo, the trailer that revealed Shinobu Kocho, and the one showcasing Kyojuro Rengoku, one focusing on Tanjiro Kamado in his Hinokami Kagura form, one showing the versions of the characters from Demon Slayer Academy, and one showing a second batch of the same group.

A western release has not been announced, but one for Asia by Sega will include English subtitles.

I LOVE this show but why the game has to be another arena fighting game!? It could have been more of action game and you would be slaying Demons just like the source material.

I loved all the mainline Naruto games from them (1-5 and Storm 1-4), Kakarot I didn't play yet, but this I will want to have day 1. Sad that there are no demons to play as... and before you tell me there is Nezuko - this is especially dumb, as she doesn't hurt humans... well, demon slayers shall not fight each other either, but "video games", I guess.

Yeah, I enjoyed it, the movie is amazing too (takes place immediately after the events of anime). There were some moments I didn't like, forced comedic relief stuff, but maybe it's just me.
Is it violent\adult or it is the classic power of friendship stuff?!

Is this just a 1 on 1 fighter?

The anime series is just OK but I loved the hell out of the movie.

hmmmm
It looks like it has a world exploration component that interests me, but if it's just 1 on 1 and 2 on 1 fights I'm not so sure about this.
I know based on the anime it can't be a brawler or anything like that, just not a fan of these types of games.
Unless the world exploration part is really cool.

I am gonna be blunt. I hate all of these anime arena fighters. ALL.

They take great ips and never make actual fighting games, outside of DBFighterZ, or action adventures that don't suck.

Isn't this owned by Sony?

Wonder why they didn't get a PlayStation studio to develop it.

Tis logical.

I feel its because they still have contracts in place. After those licenses run out, who knows. Sony buying all those properties clearly must have some goal in mind, its just hard to see if its for streaming or gaming or both. Hard to say right now, but is a good question.

Heimdall_Xtreme Heimdall_Xtreme Crunchyroll acquired Viz Media, Sony bought Crunchyroll. They could also mean Sony pictures doing the Anime films, but I think they mean Sony buying Crunchyroll.

So they might mean the film stuff like here

or they might mean the buy out here.

Its VERY pretty but the characters and story aren't anything earth shattering.
Preferred Dororo, personally.

Was more interesting than any cut of KnY which is just another "consistent" animation show that does nothing interesting.

Game looks mid considering what they could actually do with it.

Crunchyroll just streams the anime, and Funimation is a distributor. Them buying Crunchyroll doesn’t mean they own the IP of every anime streaming on there.

Never said anything like that.

Crunchyroll has acquired and started doing originals, that is now owned by Sony.

As in....a company buying Netflix would own Stranger Things, doesn't mean they'd own Full House. Hope that makes sense as I never even remotely entertained ALL THINGS on Crunchyroll now being owned by Sony or something, simply the IP owned by them, is now owned by Sony.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
Another Niche weebo game which will be dead within months.

This might be my most highly anticipated game. CyberConnect2 knows how to make one hell of an anime fighter as evidenced by the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games.

Crunchyroll doesn't own Demon Slayer though.

And Sony doesn't own the IP. They license it in NA.

Demon Slayer's videogames are published by Aniplex, that also Is involved as published and distributor of the anime serie and movie. Aniplex Is a Sony propriety.
Aniplex is the North American licensee of the series. Yes they're owned by Sony but they don't own the IP, they just license it from Ufotable who produced the series.

It's like saying Harmony Gold owned Macross.

They are also coproducer and distributor of the movie in Japan, publisher and producer of the mobile game and publisher for Japan of this game

Yeah I watched the first 5 or 6 episodes after reading all the praise but I couldn't help but feel disappointed. It looks great but my god is it boring.

Hopefully they keep it with japanese voices and english subs only. Please don't ruin it with trash english actors.

Day one for me but as you said I wish it comes with Japanese voices and english sub. English dub is just unbearable for me

Btw I can't wait for season 2 .. oh boy things are getting even better and better

It’s going to come with subs. That’s obvious. I don’t get why there’s so much hate for dubs. Unbearable? Really?

Not interested in the anime. Saw the movie and it was ok, but shounen anime isn't for me.

But CyberConect makes great-looking games, maybe will try when it's cheap.
