This one has trophies with a platinum.

Will you be buying this? The PS2 version was a bit shit but I want this for my 100% Deus Ex collection

No cheevo for snooping around the ladies restroom? Come on now.

No trophy for knocking out Manderley after escaping from UNATCO Level 4, dragging his unconscious body all the way to the MJ12 missile silo and blasting him into space?

I was gonna get this anyway but this seals it. So good to see, I am definitely going for the plat.

I just bought it and it seems like a great version in the little bit I've just played. It's running at 60fps and a high resolution (I'd assume it's the equivalent of a 4k pixel density but it is running in 4:3). The original on the PS2 had a frame rate that would tank in some sections. I'm pretty sure it ran under 10fps in some areas lol. It's so good that Sony has brought back this masterpiece so it can be preserved (this version is a bit different from the PC version and until now it was stuck on the PS2).

The PS2 version of the game was perfectly serviceable. It wasn't without its flaws and cutbacks, but it was still worthy. And besides, it had a wonderfully redone main theme song, and not to mention stylish and well-done intro and outro videos.

Seeing this thread reminds me how far and away we are of getting a new Deus Ex game and the return of Mr Jensen

Anyone in North America able to buy this? Not seeing it yet.

It's up now.

What do you think about the controls? Particularly the aiming? I remember it being terrible on ps2 but it's been ages. I might be thinking of something else.

Technically it was re-released on the ps3 store in Europe

Played the first mission yesterday and the impressions are very good. Console UI is very friendly, you just have to learn a rather unusual button layout (like jumping with a bumper button or reloading with R3). Runs very good (so far) and you get the standard goodies of Sony's emulator - rewind, separate saves or a choice of the aspect ratio (I'm sticking with 4:3). Obviously the graphics are kinda bad (like the Statue of Liberty is a big blob), but I don't mind.

I reckon not everyone's going to be a fan of how they divided levels, but in the Liberty Island area only the beginning was weird. The dock isn't directly connected to the main grounds, but to the Unatco HQ entrance and from there you have a narrow passage leading to other areas.

What are the odds you find 10 augmentation canisters naturally through regular exploration? Asking this for the Augmented Reality trophy. I've played the original on PC half a dozen times before, but I don't remember if I ever gotten 10. And while it's never a punishment to replay Deus Ex, I'd rather get the platinum in one go.

Also, what do they mean with failing to pick up 10 items (Pack Rat)? Not having enough space in your inventory and not being able to pick up a weapon for example?

is this 60fps at least?
Yes. But unfortunately no widescreen, though that was to be expected for a PS2 game I suppose.
I've never played this version before, but it looks pretty solid. Gamepad controls are less intuitive than on PC and needs some time getting used to, but nothing too serious. Also, levels are broken up in multiple parts, but the loading times are fast enough for it to not really feel like an issue.

Tomb Raider Legend was widescreen. Shite visuals though, something was very off with the resolution they used and how it looked on a 4k screen.

I don't understand why Sony does not use the PC versions for some games. Those maybe could even use some texture pack mods or whatever was done in some cases. They just would need to make an emulator. That should not be entirely impossible, since the current PS is closer to PC than the hw of the PS2 was.

The general aiming feels decent enough to me. It does feel dated and probably is a bit cumbersome on controller for a lot of people but it's alright imo.

The emulator they use allows you to remap all the buttons which is good because some of the button mapping is unorthodox by today's standards (E.g. "shoot" is mapped to R1 and reload is R3)

The IP is dead, unfortunately. Square Enix / Embracer didn't even bother to port Human Revolution to PS4/PS5.

I think it's a small miracle we got an opportunity to play any old version of Deus Ex on modern consoles.

The odds of me playing this have now gone from 0% to about 30%.

Is it hard to complete all mission assignments in each level?

It's not hard at all. It's possible to fill all augmentation slots by the time you get to Hong Kong, so around halfway through the game, and you're given multiple chances to get most of them. I don't think I've ever finished a playthrough without a full set of augmentations.

There are two canisters that can only be found at a single point in the game, but they're both placed so that you can't really miss them.

Is there a way to access my inventory to see which notes and books I've read, and to see mission objectives? Also, how do I get the secret message in training? I beat the game so many years ago that I've forgotten a lot of stuff.

The secret room is in the final area of the training where you look at various holograms.

There's a menu for objectives and collectibles - you need to touch the left side of the touchpad (the Start button on the controller is used to open the emulator's menus).

The books and stuff trophy I got naturally before mission 2. Just look through everything, emails included.
