What's new about this?
Fully voiced (apparently the most voicework in an Atlus game EVER, I think), better graphics, and an all new 8th day scenario to continue the story and see the aftermath! Also, an easy mode!

I thought the original game was pretty tough, anything to make me give it another go?
There is an easy mode. While I'm not sure of the specifics, maybe it'll make it less harrowing to go through. Also the new content should be worth a look!

EDIT: Easy mode grants you extra macca and experience in battles (per AtlusAram).

I didn't look but I'm gonna give you a 99% chance of NO.

Should I import this?
No! It's region-locked! So you have to either get a system specific to the region or just wait and twiddle your thumbs. Twiddle away!

Sorta hyped. Didn't play the original and I was all set to pick this up day 1 but the supposed steep difficulty has been giving me second thoughts as of late.

Can't wait for this. While I loved the original, I never got past the 4th day because I got sidetracked by a bunch of other stuff. Between this and Deus Ex next tuesday I'm going to be in heaven.

This seems to be a growing trend with Atlus games. Can't say I can complain, whatever it takes to make the series more accessible for the average buyer is good imo.

Nice job. I'll be getting this since I definitely need new games for my 3DS. I never played the original though... might start on this new Easy mode.

Placed my pre-order last week. Can't wait to pick this up and use it as relief/reward from grad. school entrance exams AKA "Hell Week" of 7 hours of graduate diagnostic exams for 3 days.

Played the original and loved it.

If you're a JRPG/FF Tactics-style turn-based strategy fan and you never played the DS version, I highly recommend it. It's definitely one of my favorite RPGs on the DS and I think it's safe to say this is now the best JRPG on the 3DS right now.

Still curious about these remastered visuals. Either way, Ill be picking it up, even though I have the original. Im a sucker for SMT. Also, want to show Atlus my support, so that we get more games from them on the 3DS.

I've never really played a strategy RPG before but I love the SMT series and its offshoots. How does the combat differ from a typical JRPG?

This is an excellent, excellent game that gets better the further you get into it.

Definitely in contention for my favourite JRPG of all time.

How steep is the learning curve on this game? So far my exposure to Atlus games has been Persona 4 and Catherine.

I expect this is significantly harder to reach a satisfying level of competency at and from looking at the gameplay videos I'm not encouraged that I have the kind of brain required to properly negotiate a strong party. I mean, I loved the shit out of Final Fantasy Tactics but that is far and away as hard an SRPG as I've allowed myself to play.

Before anyone says anything, I consider Zelda:OoT to be an action-adventure game.

I agree with this. It's certainly my favorite JRPG in a generation or two.

The gameplay was excellent. I went through one of the hardest paths my first time through (I think the hardest, but perhaps there were a couple of similar difficulty), and when I failed on a mission, it wasn't because I had hit a wall and couldn't proceed without grinding. Instead I just had to rethink which demons I used and what special abilities were required for that particular level. For instance, a lot of people complain about the escort levels, but I personally loved them and found them totally doable, even easy. You just had to think about how to approach those levels - a bunch of demons have special abilities designed to assist with escorts. If you approach the game like pokemon where you're focusing on leveling up a small number of your favorite demons, you're probably going to struggle a bit (although you can definitely focus on some of your favorites for quite a while). You're constantly auctioning and combining demons, so it's not like you have to spend a bunch of time to rebuild your units.

The story is an example of the common Japanese taken on western religion, but here it's done better than most other games. There aren't really good or evil paths, but instead there's a great deal of moral ambiguity. It's all pretty thoughtful for a video game story.

This will be my third 3DS game purchase (the others being SSFIV3D and Zelda).
I suppose I should pick up a cheap $20 copy of Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars at some point.

Get this if you haven't played it on the DS. I was pleasantly surprised at how dark and heavy the story was, especially given the Saturday morning anime vibes I got from the character designs.

Anyway, I bought the original day one but didn't finish it (like many of my other games). Volc should buy me a 3DS ;)

I'll probably buy this, even if I don't get a 3DS right away. I did the same thing with Lost Odyssey and Operation Darkness months before I got a 360.

I want this but not at $40 for a slightly enhanced port. If there were at least typical awesome Atlus preorder bonuses like a soundtrack or something I probably woulda jumped, but eh, waiting for sale.
