What Dreams May Come is one of my favorite movies ever (though I find comedians do Drama's incredibly well, somehow they always have that extra range for it, Sandler and Carey best outings were also serious roles). He had more bad films than good, but the good well outweighed the bad when you look at the value of what he brought.

Only watched a handful of his movies I think. Mrs Doubtfire is a good movie.

But I always found him really annoying in talk show interviews. The guy always has to be on. David Letterman could ask him about family members dying in a plane crash (I made that up) and two seconds later Robin WIlliams would be laughing going na-nu na-nu.

He was either just naturally always high, or always drunk or high on drugs.

Good morning Vietnam for me 👍😁

Loved this movie when I was finishing up high school. (Always had a soft spot for Cadillac man as well 🤣)

Also liked his creepy turn later on in his career in one hour photo, insomnia and I can’t remember the third.

But the lows were low 😬🙈

He did some dumb shit for a payday like Flubber. But he also made some great movies that were under the radar like One Hour Photo and Worlds Greatest Dad.

If you’ve never seen Worlds Greatest Dad you should really watch it. Amazing movie directed by Bobcat Goldthwait.

Overall I think he had a fantastic career.

When I think of Robin Williams I think of mostly good movies but scanning IMDb he was in quite a few stinkers as well. I still think Mrs Doubtfire is funny.

If we're talking strictly numbers, it's probably right down the middle. He was very prolific. However, he's had way too many amazing roles to consider him anything but one of the greatest talents in Hollywood of all time. Even his not so great movies are almost never that way because of him or his performance.

Aladdin
Mrs. Doubtfire
Good Morning, Vietnam
Patch Adams
What Dreams May Come
Good Will Hunting
One Hour Photo
World's Greatest Dad
Bicentennial Man
Flubber (good for kids at least lol)
Jumanji
Jack (okay, this one's terrible lmao)
The Birdcage
Hook
Cadillac Man
Dead Poets Society

What a run.

As a stand-up comedian he didn't really do much for me strangely enough. As an actor he is the only one that can make me laugh and reduce me to tears, as it stands no other actor or actress can do both only one or the other. For me personally I would put him up there with the likes of Daniel Day Lewis.

My favourite films that he starred in as follows.

Dead Poets Society
The Fisher King
Good Will Hunting
Patch Adams
Good Morning Vietnam
Toys
One Hour Photo
Bicentennial Man
The Birdcage
Jack
Mrs Doubtfire
Hook

I voted "Mostly bad." Sacrilege, I know.

But check out his IMDB page.
He's credited as an actor in 107 different things. I can name maybe.... ten? Perhaps fifteen, if I really think about it?

Going through the list, a whole lot of them have bad reviews. Most of them, I've never even heard of. In terms of career moves, he seems to have gone with a "quantity" plan over a "quality" plan.
I don't blame him, though. If I was an actor, I'd take literally every single damn thing that was offered to me.

Of the ones I have heard of, he's excellent, of course. Robin Williams was a fantastic actor.
That doesn't mean he wasn't in a whole ton of shitty stuff, though.

Robin Williams was great in dramatic roles, but I can't stand his manic, psuedo-improvised comedy shtick. I think Patch Adams is damn near a war crime.

He is a comedian for people that don't have a sense of humor. See also Big Bang Theory, Schitt's Creek, Sebastian Maniscalco, Amy Schumer......

He was genius in Good Will Hunting.

Definitely more hits than misses, but even in his misses I enjoyed watching him.

I was never a fan of Robin Williams. His energy just didn't vibe with mine. Too frantic, unsettled. No hate intended, of course, I just could never click with him.

I didn't watch a lot of his movies and wasn't the biggest fan. But he was great in Good Will Hunting which is an amazing movie. I also liked the original Jumanji at the time.

I understand why some people find it grating when he turns a movie into the Robin Williams show, but the guy was a proper mensch and it really shines through in most of his roles.

I met him three times. Living in the Bay Area you'd run into him in line at McDonalds and other random places. He and Zelda were sitting in front of us at the midnight showing of The Two Towers at the Coronet. He wasn't like that with a camera off. He was still funny, but more low key and "normal". Very nice guy. His death still hits hard. I still can't watch Aladdin.

He was an amazing dramatic actor. His good films far outweigh the bad.

Awakenings is probably what I'll remember him for more than anything else.

I think he had a nervous energy when in front of an audience that didn’t serve him well during one on one interviews. He was clearly a more complicated guy personally, but he never really demonstrated that on those shows, which is a shame.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Watched Mrs. Doubtfire recently, still holds up. He was also brilliant in What Dreams May Come. Dead Poet's Society, Aladdin, Hook, Patch Adams - these will always outweigh stuff like Toys or RV.

Guy was in some absolute classics. Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting? Oh hell yeah.

Mrs Doubtfire was a dopey 90s family film and he crushed it in that.

Dude made the movies he was in.

One Hour Photo was by far his best dramatic performance, and Mrs Doubtfire was his best comedic. The guy could do no wrong, really.

He was almost always just an actor, so he wasn't responsible for making all the films he acted in. I don't know how many times people could say he ruined a film with his acting.

love the love i’m seeing for Bicentennial Man on here :). not sure if you guys remember when it came out, but it was suppee critically panned and suggested it would ruin his career. I thought it was amazing.

Aw shit

Don't remind me that he's past tense.

EXTREMELY difficult, my favourite movies are EITHER good morning Vietnam or good will hunting. Good? Good.

The Final Cut I enjoyed for it's concept. It's nothing special but very clear Williams was carrying the whole film.

Wasn’t his public persona a coping mechanism with being an incredible introvert?
