My friend told me this via SMS today and I was like, “WHO THE FUCK DID YOU SAY DIED??”

I had no love for the man and I got interested in football when he was at the end of his playing career, but there’s no belittling his legend. When he took part in a charity match about 5 years ago I saw him running with the ball and went, “Hey, that guy runs like Maradona... wait... holy shit, it IS Maradona!”. His stride was so unique, immediately recognizable even at 50+ years old.

He did too much shit in his life for me to be actually sad at the news, but his name will be a symbol of football and Argentina forever.
