Digital books are absurdly convenient.

Hated reading on the earlier Kindles but I recently got a current gen kindle Paperwhite and I love it, it's crazy light and it does a good job of making the pages look like a physical paper book.

I'm a collector and I've loved to read since I was a kid. So because of that, I have a lot of books and physical media in general.

However, last year I finally bought a Kindle and it makes reading just so easy.

Beyond being able to read at night in bed without disturbing my wife thanks to the backlight (and being able to warm that light so I can sleep), not having to fumble around with a physical book is great.

Plus adding the fact that I've got the Kindle app on my phone so I can switch back and forth at will (infinite scroll on Kindle mobile is the shit).

Not to mention I don't have to go to brick and mortar (which might not have the title I'm looking for) or wait for them to ship. If I want to read something, I'm reading it 3 minutes later.
Hear hear!

I've been devouring books lately on my Kobo ereader. As a non-native English speaker I find some authors more challenging than others as they seem to enjoy highly specific words I've never encountered. So the built-in dictionary has been highly valued.

Some unknown words I've added to my word-list just lately: desultorily, promontory, rambunctious, intrasigence, smart, realcitrant, gregarious, triptych, garrulous.

I'll probably read Lord of the Rings on it too, despite the experience being even more atmospheric on paper. I want to read the books in their original language, so I'll be prepared with my dependable digital dictionary.

The dictionary is so nice.

I use triptych often at work and people get annoyed but its something that really is best described with that word!

Digital books are absurdly convenient until they start to censor the books

I will always prefer physical when it comes to books but I just don't have the space so digital it is

The dictionary function has been helpful though

Physical books win for me because they are tactile objects that exist. Screens are temporary text! Ink is much more permanent.

Kindle has made it a habit of mine and kids to read few pages before going to sleep. Super helpful in getting kids into the habit of reading.

It's true. Audio books even more so…
I subbed to audible yesterday for the first time and it is absolutely baffling to me that you cant read while you hear. I know some books you can combine the kindle and audible versions to have that but not all of them.
