Definitly. But as things stand, I wouldn't be suprised if the 60-series won't be around until late 2027. And by then the 6080 will probably be 5090-level, But with lower power consumption. Maybe. With the RTX 60 series do you think Nvidia will again leave a huge gap between the 6090 and the 6080?
So what do you suggest to anyone looking to buy hardware within the next year or so?
Upgrading from my i7-6700k gave me a few extra years to hold out before upgrading from my 1080 ti. Going from an i7-6700k to an i7-12700k made a world of difference not just with games, but everything.Nice advice but I don't think my i7-6700 is up to the task and it's an awful moment to buy an whole computer.
Congrats. With that setup you might last another 10.Fuck it, I just ordered a new rig. Going all in.
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (8x 4.7GHz / 5.2GHz Turbo)
64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 AMD/Intel 6000MHz Corsair Vengeance RGB CL30
32GB NVIDIA RTX5090
I don't think prices will get any better. My first rig since 2015.
Valve getting into artificial womb technology sounds kind of awesome TBHI agree. I'm checking FB daily waiting for a good one to pop up.
Here's the facts:
- this hardware gen still has a decade to go. Switch 2 and PS6 specs guarantee this. Valve knew this when they spec'd Steam Womb
- Memory is cheaper today than it will be tomorrow. Don't be overconfident because we've had RAM spikes in the past. AI didn't exist and Nvidia wasn't feeding planet earth back then. This is a new era and anything is possible.
I think we're in the beginning of the end of home computing. Where the processing happens at home I mean. For a myriad of reasons, cloud computing just makes sense for the future. When physical market realities, like needing people to dig up more RAM hit us, it's worth looking at what we're asking for.
32GB PS6's in every home is an expensive endeavor. And what's the upside? Carving up gaming 6xxx series chips sounds equally implausible. Far more important customers want those chips and it'll be a bitch to get the vRAM. Just use GeForce Now.
Imagine Gabe carrying your clone forever on his yacht. Rubbing belly while watching the sunset. It's the real Death Stranding 3.Valve getting into artificial womb technology sounds kind of awesome TBH
Only if you already have a decent PC. If you're already struggling then waiting is a shit proposition. I just built a new one and put a 5800x3d/5070 system on CL for $900 to see if I could unload it fast, but if doesn't I'll probably get more for it in 6 months and even more a year from now. The PC hardware market is looking bleak and I don't see it getting better any time soon.Ypu are a lemming and part of the problem if you buy right now.
Me with a 5090:Most of us are still using our 4090 until the 6000 series release.

Yes obviously the upfront costs will be cheaper, it always is. But a potential 20GB console in 2028 is just sad.still cheaper than a gaming PC thats for sure.
And probably even better optimized games keklol
That's not good. I'm also concerned with natural resources being poured into this shit and it becoming a human rights issue later on down the line. I don't think I am paranoid with all the investment cash being funneled into AI.The shortage of GPU's is indeed going to be unprecedented.
Companies like Coreweave, Applied Digital, Nebius, Microsoft etc are being allocated the lions share of the supply chain to build out enormous AI datacenters.
The demand for GPU's is already sky high despite FUD news articles talking about bubbles and stock being stuck on shelves etc.. it's utter nonsense, at work our head of security was trying to secure £13m worth of H100, H200, and Blackwell Ultra. They were told that they are all fully sold out for the next 3 years with a huge backlog.
It's insane considering blackwell is soon to be replaced...
