Directive 8020 is the new game from Supermassive. SF + survival horror. Most people know Supermassive from Until Dawn. This setting (SF) is a big departure for them.

It's coming out May 12. $50 on console.

Brief Falcon recap:

Also, you are ABSOLUTELY NOT READY for this game:

Directive seems like the 'most game play' Supermassive have put in any of their games so far, hope it pans out for them.

I remember its teaser in The Devil In Me, it's been almost 4 years since then.

Its gonna be a goofy fun 8 hour experience. Its always janky af with mediocre story, but still fun if you like these type of movie games. Im a sucker for scifi and horror so might play this one and not watch

Also excited for this, I love these games and it's been forever since we've got a proper new one.

is it actually Survival Horror or is it just a horror themed game that people call Survival Horror?

always an issue once a genre descriptor starts losing its meaning, you gotta ask if it's actually what people say it is.

given their previous games it's hard to believe they'd make a survival horror game... because... you know... They're not known for gameplay

Its still a movie game, but this has more gameplay than their previous games. Still dont expect it to play like a regular survival horror.

Lol

Stop posting irrelevant videos

Imagine uploading a 'Top 10' video that's 90% irrelevant, and I'm left hunting for the actual footage

You must be a retard

Whatever you're about to type in response, it isn't worth it.

I'm looking forward to how this game will be received on release.

After playing some of these games from them, how can anyone be hyped about it? Their writers are trash, the characters are so unlikable that I don't want them to survive and have some of the dumbest plot twists like "it was all allucination or a dream or some character is just crazy."

i like that they are trying to improve the gameplay, however it still kind of looks a bit ass to play.

but Supermassive has their audience. But they are the ultimate 7/10 studio.

to be fair, that is most of the horror movies that these types of games are trying to emulate.

even something like Longlegs which was a decent horror movie to watch, if you actually think of the plot it's borderline stupid.

Besides the absolute classics like the exorcist or Poltergeist, most horror is shlocky and shite.

Cute. Does he pay you for the protection services or do you just enjoy white-knighting for guys who post irrelevant YouTube filler?

He can handle his own bad posts. Mind your business.
It's because I'm immune to the whole "insult/troll/bait" thing, but I know that others here with good intention sometimes fall for it, so I tend to try to help them out sometimes.

Based on our own previous interactions, I figure you're probably having a bad day today. Or I guess maybe there's a chance you're being intentional with your posts, but it feels random that you'd start doing this now.

Regardless, I don't want to derail the thread. OP reacted to my post and he successfully didn't take the bait.

So I always get Supermassive and Supergiant mixed up. I had to look what games Supermassive did.

Until Dawn, and The Quarry.

In January 2024, it was reported that the company co-founders left the company. In February 2024, Jason Schreier of Bloomberg News reported that Supermassive Games had informed 150 employees that they were at risk of layoffs, ultimately cutting 90 personnel.

Not looking good.

Meanwhile, Supergiant is going from success after success with Hades.

I mean - this game was originally teased in-game in The Devil in Me. In 2022. It was originally supposed to release three years ago. Never a good sign.

Yea, this is likely the studio's last hurrah. Do or die time, if the game fails, expect a full shutdown unless they can find work at being Sony's support studio for Media Molecule again ....
