Creates buzz on day of release. Otherwise people say cool game, I'll buy it, oh it isn't out yet? Then they forget when it comes out.

I actually pre-ordered 5 of them to be safe. Ill grab a few more on sunday. You better post pics of your haul so we can compare!
I ordered 10. Two different orders. Ordered a blue TRU capsule and then saw the McQueen after I placed my order and preordered that with 5 more packs.

Ditto, I pre-ordered 5 with my crystal McQueen figure. I'll probably stop by the store and buy another 5-6 if they still have them by the time I get out of work at 6PM.

While we wait for the game (and reviews) I started to make a small list of the playsets I would like to see the most (they are sitting on a gold mine there, just mix new with old stuff to appeal everyone):
- Winnie the Pooh
- Songs of the South (so much potential in this one)
- Jake and the Never Land Pirates (my little boy loves it)
- Aladdin
- Roger Rabbit
- The Lion King (actually Timon and Pumbaa will serve right)

You could for a while. They went down this morning.
You realize Disney has basically disowned this property in the US, right? There's zero chance of this ever happening. It would be pretty interesting though.

so with the playsets...when you buy a toy it unlocks the playset for that character, right?

Ya, but Splash Mountain still exists.
I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but the playsets ($35) come with a piece that unlocks the game world and two characters that can play in that world. Individual characters do not come with 'playset' levels, they just have little challenges you can do in toybox mode.

Thanks...I was thinking one character unlocked a playset. So its like $35-$40 for each playset...I'm starting to think this game isn't something I want to invest in.

Someone earlier said that if you buy the additional character and they are part of a playset, they unlock specific missions for them in that playset. I may be wrong though.

I should have pre-ordered the crystal McQueen. I never played Skylanders so I wasn't sure how hyped up limited editions could be with these.

For those ordering or showing up at the store to get the TRU-exclusive power disc packs that contain one regular disc and one TRU-exclusive disc: The TRU-exclusive discs are almost assuredly timed exclusives that will release normally in waves 2 and 3. Fans have parsed out the different types of discs coming in waves 2 and 3, and through confirmation by a French YouTube video on DI, have determined that either the TRU-exclusive discs are exactly the same as some discs in waves 2 and 3 or are lenticular versions of those discs, having the exact same in-game properties.

Yeah I saw somewhere else that the only one that will be available at first is mikes new car. That is supposedly the only exclusive one that the TRU packs will have for now. Not sure if thus is 100% true but it makes sense.

It would also be great if the platform takes off and they branch out into all their properties. Marvel, Star Wars and the Muppets. I hope the game is good and gets a lot of focus. It would also be nice to get some news on PS4 and Xbox One releases.

No. Toy Story in Space is the only one that has been confirmed as a playset. All the others are Toy Box only characters it would seem.

You'll be able to use those items as long as you have the toy box, but you won't be able to customize them or add more of them. You get what's there. Also if you delete it from the toy box, it's gone.
Yeah, it's going to be crazy. Of course, on launch day the Play Sets will be 50% off at Target, so who knows how often they'll have sales like that. The other thing that really disappointed me is that you need ALL characters from a Play Set to access all areas of that Play Set. This means you're going to be dropping some serious bank on extra characters that don't give much real benefit. I'm going to give it a shot and see how it goes.
I have the game pre-ordered at Target and I'm going to pick up the sidekicks pack and the two play sets for a total of $140 (crazy...) and I'll get a free character and an extra pack of the power discs for pre-ordering. From all that stuff we should get a good 30-40 hours of gameplay at least (i sure hope so anyways...) and then I'll evaluate if it's worth keeping around. One thing about Infinity is I can't see any reason to ever buy a Play Set you aren't interested in. So you could just buy it and then only get a new Play Set when it's something you actually like.

Good to know. But there is also an official album holder for the discs, and and exclusive TRU version of the album that holds 30 discs instead of 20. My guess is that there will be some cosmetical differences between the discs otherwise down on the road you will have albums with duplicated discs.

Well, since the discs are supposedly part of Series 2 or Series 3 I'm sure the album holder that corresponds to those series will have the appropriate spots for those discs. I've never been a fan of retailer exclusives like this. I'm lucky that there is a new Toys R Us in town, but I know there are others who aren't as lucky.

It does not make sense that only 1 exclusive disc is available at the moment. The exclusive pack says one "normal" plus one "exclusive" disc. If only one exclusive disc is available at the moment there will be no reason to buy more than one exclusive pack, thus less sales for TRU. Besides there is an TRU exclusive album available right now that holds the 20 regular plus the 10 exclusive discs. People will want all the exclusives right now.
I got one of these at D23. They are not limited. They will go on sale in January. 5,000 people just got it early is all.
