Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition - Before & After Changes

Skelter

Banned
Comes out on the 27th for PC , Xbox One, and PS4! Lots of work went into the Enhanced Edition. Can't wait to play the game this with a friend on Xbox.

We've also included controller support on PC, so now you can kick back and explore Rivellon from the comfort of your sofa with Steam's Big Picture. We've put a lot of effort into streamlining the experience and have designed a slick, new UI that makes playing with a controller just as intuitive and fun as playing with mouse and keyboard. As well as local co-op, split screen and controller support, the Enhanced Edition also features:
  • All characters are now fully voiced by AAA-voice actors
  • New quests, new characters, and new content
  • Entirely new gameplay modes and character builds
  • A heavily rewritten story with a brand new ending
  • Massively reworked visuals and sound effects
  • The Enhanced Edition will be completely free to everyone who owns Original Sin.
  • And much more to be announced in the coming months!

Edouard - Combat Designer said:
Q: How did you design the Tactician Mode?
A: For every fight, we asked our QA testers what their tactics were – how they abused this or that fight, what their tricks were, what weaknesses they exploited. We also looked at how players played online via Youtube & twitch. We then made it so that in that fight, the AI reacted to that strategy.

Q: Are there extra characters in Tactician Mode?

A: Yes. Sometimes, adding just one archer in the back makes a fight considerably harder. We also gave NPCs special arrows, potions and extra skills that they can use. Prepare for unpleasant surprises!

Q: Does the Tactician Mode feature new types of enemies?

A: Yes! The Arcane Vortex, the Nether Jester, the Enchanted Armor and all of their new friends are all eager to make your acquaintance. Some of them we liked so much, we even added them to the Classic Mode, too!

Q: Does the Tactician Mode feature new spells and skills?

A: Absolutely. We created specific enemy skills, like Iron Command, Shackles of Pain, Dark Avenger and much more! These are completely new to the game and will make re-think your strategy…

Q: Do creatures behave differently in Tactician Mode?

A: Yes. Don’t stand too close to an explosive barrel or they will blow it up and you with it; take out that Aeromancer before he teleports you into that puddle of lava, or watch in horror as this Undead Priest actively dispels your much needed Regeneration effect. You’re in for a bumpy ride!

Q: What else changed in Tactician Mode?
A: Because new spells, new creatures & redesigned encounters weren’t enough, we also added environmental objects such as Bloated Corpses, Unstable Void Crystals, Poisonous Mushrooms… Use them against your enemy or perish as they use them against you!
Tactician Mode is one of the new additions to Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition and you can experience all of them for yourself when the Enhanced Edition is released on PC, Xbox and PS4 on October 27th.

The Cursed Servants
A mysterious mage calls forth undead servants to impede your progress! Here, in Classic Mode, you’ll have a mere three of them to defeat – but in Tactician Mode, it’s going to be a different story. Their equipment and abilities may also be a bit different…

Eight-Legged Wonders
So we thought, it’s a huge spider, it’s great, who doesn’t like huge spiders? And then we thought, wouldn’t that be fantastic if, in Tactician Mode, that spider could weave a toxic web around your party’s location, making them all choke in a poison cloud? And wouldn’t that be fantastic if, knowing that some of its broodlings were explosive, it would use them to blow all your characters to Nemesis? Yes, we thought! It would be wonderful!

that Larian CEO guy is mega enthusiastic. Sounds really nice.

also: 360 degreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees

This is one of those games that look awesome as hell but way too intimidating for a newb like me.

I love their updates, Swen is one of the most enthusiastic and likeable people on the planet.

Give it a chance, I am sure it will smooth you into it.

I never finished this game but I feel like being able to play it with a gamepad now (on PC) will allow me to. That's what I'm most excited for I think.

Do it! If you want something old school but meant for today, definitely check it out. Even better if you have someone to play with.

Yeah I'm really tempted to buy this. Looks pretty good.

Go for it. Excellent game and I can't wait to replay it again with all the additions.

Tomorrow? Wait what?

Edited my OP.

HOLY SHIT TOMORROW ON PC?!? I was expecting 27th like console. Hype through the roof oh man.

For anyone on console who hasn't experienced this game yet, do yourself a favor and buy it. If you like RPGs at all this shit is fucking great.

My bad man! I could've sworn I heard Sven say 22nd but it's the 27th.

i cannot tell you guys how much i love overly enthusiastic European dudes. get me pumped for anything.

played it on pc, thought it was a little too much for me. Be giving it another go round on consoles for sure

so is this like dragon age origins and older crpgs like baldur's gate, etc.? how's the story?

It's turn based, so not too much like those games gameplay wise. The combat is magnificent, though, some of the best in recent memory if not ever. The story isn't really the high point but the writing is fun and campy in standard Larian fashion, though I guess a good amount is being rewritten with the EE release.

Swen is so great. I loved this video, and I'm super excited to get down on some D:OSEE...at some point. But Wasteland 2 DC just dropped and I wanted to do that first! Man, decisions, decisions...

I love his enthusiasm.
Game looks great, can't wait to get it.
I'll likely be playing it for a long time with the amount of games coming out soon.

Anybody has a written list of the changes rather than a video ?

I went to their site and found this.

A very informative page for newcomers like myself.

As for what you asked for:

This is all I can find. It's from the original announcement.

Absolutely. One of the reasons I've become a big fan of Larian is they all seem like really genuine, passionate people who clearly love what they do. Good to their fans too, getting the free upgrade to EE if you own the original is awesome given how many changes there are. Excited!

I don't know how I am going to handle the 27th.

Between (hopefully) getting into the overwatch beta, Halo 5, and now this? Damn good day

This game is so deep and so much fun to play. As far as turn based games go its easily the game of the generation. The AI is so good too.

I can't wait. I've a friend that I play a bunch of couch co-op with and this will be out game for quite some time I imagine. This is probably the game I'm most excited for for the rest of the year.

Oh man, I so wanna play through this again with my wife. I don't know that I will have the time. We'll at least give it a go with the Steam Link and some controllers.

I think my biggest problem with the game is it just seems so.....massive. I get into the first town and 18 different quests get thrown at me and I just want to crawl into a corner and die and end up stop playing what looks to be a fantastic game.

Maybe if I just tackle the main quest that might work better but then how much COOL content am I missing?

You are going to end up completing those quests on the way to the main quest for the most part. You have to explore anyway. Dont even look at the quest log as a list that you go down and try to do one at a time.

Hopefully the 4 player mod will still work on PC. I was playing the game with 2 friends and was having a lot of fun.

A bit bummed to start over (since EE won't read OS' saves AFAIK) but controller support will be worth it (was already playing via a controller with joy2key anyway)

Hows the story in this game? I always wanted to play this despite not feeling Larians Divinity 2 despite hype. I know this game is very different and their diablo like games review better than the third person rpgs. Nevertheless look forward to doing some couch co op which I did with Diablo 3.

It wasn't originally good, but they've rewritten it all.

From the OP:

I think that's the main problem. My personality dictates I go down that log like a shopping list and do them individually one at a time and then the pain kicks in. Trying to kick the habit to the curb and just enjoy the game and explore but it just isn't working.

Might give the EE a go again since I get it for free.
