Divinity OS2 gets Switch 2, PS5, and Series X/S updates. Free upgrade for existing owners.

The naming of the Divinity franchise games is as confusing as the naming of the Rambo movies
I guess they used the Original Sin name to give a jumping on point for people so they didn't feel like they would have had to play the previous games to play those. Now that the studio has an even bigger profile post-BG3 they maybe want to create another by just calling the new one Divinity? I was talking to a friend yesterday who didn't even realise there were entries in the series before Original Sin.

How does this compare to BG3? I loved the role playing aspect of BG3 but found the combat to be kind of tedious.
BG3 is better in the roleplaying aspects as a lot can change based on your actions. Divinity OS2 is less so and far less cinematic aka no sexy cutscenes, however I had A LOT more fun with Divinity OS2 combat as it does not rely on dice rolls at all, it's all resistances based and you can unleash some fucking hell. Also it has one of the best elemental combinations ever made.

this trailer shows some of the elemental stuff I'm talking about. It's pure chaos and super fun. You will get wrecked tho.

So I got this yesterday because I haven't played BG3 and didn't get what the big deal was about re: the gameplay. Gotta say, it's pretty fun so far, I'm only on the 2nd chapter. My only real issue is that it feels like the gameplay moves at a glacial speed. Not necessarily a bad thing, and maybe just an early game thing? I dunno. For $15 though I ain't mad. If I ever plod my way through this I'll probably grab BG3 at some point.

So the switch 2 version on the eshop is £44.99 and the switch 1 is £22.49..... if I buy the Switch 1 version will I be getting the free upgrade?
I think so, yes. I had the SW1 version and upgraded for free. Same with Harry Potter that you could buy on Switch for like $12 and upgrade for $10, while the SW2 edition costs 60-70 or something.
