do PAL PS2 games support prog. scan?

PAL PS2's can support pro scan but no those two titles dont have it. GT4 doesnt even have 480p let alone 1080i in PAL land.

GT4 pal has no 480p mode and no 1080i mode.

games, that i remember with progressive scan:

primal
the getaway 1

Prince of Persia SoT has PS. Don't know about PoP WW though.

I don't think Getaway had PS - I remember it having Widescreen, but no PS. Could be wrong though.

No, but the PS2 is the greatest supporter in jaggies. Just be careful not to cut yourself on them.

Instead of reading what other people posted, you resort to this? The answer has already been given, I suggest you give up now...

PS: You havin a bad day or sumthin?

You mean, give up like most of the developers in making great looking and great playing games? I mean, if you enjoy mediocrity and conform to what everyone else likes, more power to you son.

You played MGS3? ZOE2? Or are you just on a crusade against Sony? I mean, come on, only a bonafide graphics whore would bash games on their graphics. You say something about great playing games, yet you resort to bashing the PS2 cause the games have jaggies?

This SUCKS!!! This has to change for next-gen or I'm importing all my consoles. Although that'd probably mean no online play :(

It does suck. I would have bought component cables just for a look at GT4 in 1080i. Now I'll live out my current-gen days in glorious s-video :)

it'll probably change. PS2 was out way before progressive scan got to Europe. HD will be out in the UK when PS3 launches, so HD should be standard.

I would like to stick to just a UK console next time due to potential online/IP based protection that might not let an imported console go online.

But not if I'm going to lose HD.

I doubt there is even a confirmed standard for HDTV makers in PAL zone...Europe=Country of dumbasses when it comes to rules.
Shit, I said this and I say it again. I won't never buy another PAL system ever. Prices, IQ, release dates...always the worst.

Not HD yet. They are trying to push for 720p and HDCP, but who knows?

At least there is a standard for 576p. Only took us until 2004 to get it sorted :)

Not quite true, is it?
When comparing regular TV resolution PAL vs NTSC, PAL has a higher resolution. Play Jak III for example in 50 and 60Hz mode. 50Hz looks sharper (60Hz also generates lines on the TV).

If the port is good (the game runs at the same speed in both modes) I always choose 50Hz because of the superior IQ.
