Do you enjoy the weekend?

Wondering what people think of the weekends. I don't know if it's because I'm getting older or not but I find weekends are largely unbearable. So so boring.

Summer is fine because I can do things like visiting places or going for walks but not so much in Winter. There's hardly anything to do except shopping (oh god), the gym, or movies (which are always packed).

Tell me your thoughts NeoGAF. Let me know if I'm in good company.

Aussies can flip reverse this to Summer.

Being a homebody and a hermit is fine with me on the weekends. I see enough people throughout the work week. I hate to keep reminding myself I'm getting old, but now I don't mind taking it easy. I've had my share of hanging out with friends at bars and clubs on the weekends.

Plus with the fucking C-virus pandemic, it's good to distance one's self from the general public.

Love the Weeknd.

As a person that worked 7 days a week for years , I like any day off and getting 2 off in a row is like a vacation.
Yes, I absolutely love weekends.

Not really. Having days off during the week is always better for me. The weekends always have these extra people wherever I want to go and the traffic is worse. Those other five days? I get the park to myself, there's nobody at the stores or the gym or whatever.

They were awesome when I was young enough to drink and chase girls, though.

Not really ..since I work from home the weekends can be a bit more congested because a lot of other people are off. During the week if I have anything to do like bank or post office or even grocery shopping everything is a breeze as most people are at work. On weekends though considerably longer waits and lines everywhere I try to go ..also people that only drive on weekends are a f*cking nightmare. It's like they are scared of everything and always mashing their brakes , they are right up with inconsiderate people who don't know where they are going

I moved to another country about a year ago and made all the new friends at work (some from different departments). Some of us go to the gym together on saturday morning but after that I basically just count off the time until Monday.

Yeah.

I like my job but it's nice being able to sleep until late, take it easy, catch up on some reading/TV/gaming and going somewhere or doing something that gets you away from routine.

I haven't had a weekend off in 2 months, I've typically had my time off in the middle of the week. Work was postponed this weekend due to all this *gesticulates wildly*. I'd love to go to the National Mall as I've been awake during the day all week but not sure it's a good idea. Sitting alone in a fucking hotel is shit.

But when I'm at home? Love that shit.

My weekends are awesome.

My wife and I go out on adventures, watch movies, play games, cook extravagant meals, have day time sex, do gardening, spend time with the pets, and that's just the normal stuff, not camping trips, weekends away, festivals, conserts and the like.

i like my job, but if that was the most fun part of my life, things would have gone very wrong.

Having thought about it - I quite like Sundays. It's just Saturdays in the daytime where I seem to lose my marbles.

I work a 4-10s schedule so I get a 3 day weekend every week.
Envy me bitches,

Envy me bitches,

I used to do that when I worked at a cinema. It was amazing.

Late lie-ins in the morning, run errands in early afternoon, off to work, and then bed.

I genuinely think the 9-5 is shit by comparison.

The weekend isn't long enough. Whatever tool came up with work 5 days, have 2 off, should be resurrected, then killed again.

I like days off, but I don't like Friday / Saturday because that's when most people are off or getting off and everything is busy. Sunday / Monday are my favorite to have off. Sundays are peaceful because folks are getting ready to return to work / school, making things I want to do reasonably quiet, even more so on Mondays when everyone is busy, and I get the day to myself.

ROMhack ROMhack - I was sort of in the same boat as you, particularly during the extremities of the seasons (super cold winter, super hot summer), but started to find stuff to do, particularly in the outdoors
  • Shooting ranges (indoor / outdoor)
  • Karting (indoor / outdoor)
  • Open water swimming (slap on a wetsuit and drop me in the SF bay, it'll keep me entertained for an hour or two regardless of season)
  • Top golf / top-golf like batting cages
  • Track time with one of my cars
  • Drive out to the countryside and exploring rural towns
  • Volunteer work (I try to put in a few days a year at the local botanical gardens and animal rescues)
  • Work towards an endurance race like goal (tough mudder, Spartan event, etc)
I also spend the weekend working on soft-skills related to my career. A little bit of programming, a little bit of UX design, illustrator work, building my personal brand, etc. I also do some DIY stuff as well around home improvements - setting up an RO or water softener system, building wooden storm screens, etc though these are more "chore like" in nature. Just need to get a little creative. Hell, my wife and I have thought on-and-off about starting an Airbnb experience as well.

Hell, we've thought about dabbling in overlanding a little bit as well.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. Sounds like you're really good at spending your free time wisely. I'll look into equivalents around me.

What did you do at the botanical gardens? I live within half a mile of one and had honestly never thought about volunteering my time there.

Weekends are just another day to me.

I have a job, I'm an adult, I own a home, I was smart enough to never have kids. I do whatever the fuck I want when I want. They are just days to me. Only opinion I have about weekends is I dislike going out to eat or to see movies on them because of the crowds. Other that I don't care.

I go to bed around 130am and if I want to go have a beer and nachos grande at 11am on a Tues then I do it. I don't have to wait till the weekend because I don't give a shit about what others think and I am responsible. I'm also not so boring and tied to convention that I think I have to wait till the weekend to have fun. I usually stay home on the weekends to avoid others.

It depends - but ranged anywhere from pulling weeds with a bunch of other folks from garden beds and fields to propagating plant cuttings. You usually have someone who is a plant nut that knows a lot about native flora, so if native gardens ever interest you, it's a fun way to meet new folks and learn.
