I don't know about you, but I heavily enjoy ASMR like that, but if someone isn't doing it for the sake of ASMR it is the most annoying fucking thing ever.

How could anyone sleep with this? The reason people like the sound of rain and the beach is because they're consistent, monotonous sounds. This stuff isn't, the sounds get switched up and are chaotic, the person talks, there are sudden loud pops where they fuck up and hit the mic... Relax, sure, but if you can sleep through this, you could probably sleep through anything anyway.

I know where you’re coming from.

I’ve been listening to rain at night (and other sounds) for nearly 20 years now, before ASMR was even ‘a thing’. I had to import CDs from the US from a company called Sleepmachines before the days of MP3 downloads. They were one of the first to create an iPad app for these sounds too, which was a godsend when it was released.

These ASMR ‘videos’ though I find highly irritating or, at least, the ones highlighted in this thread. They seem so far removed from the original ‘barbers scissors’ vids that first surfaced on Youtube many years ago. That annoying girl in the first vid with those tapping of her nails makes me want to punch her in the face. Far from relaxing.

So this is definitely about that pleasant tingling sensation that fires it way down your spine? I've experienced that many a time, but not at all by anything suggested in this thread. Literally every video in here is the most grating, irritating collection of sounds that trigger me into an instant, irrational rage.

Mine seem to come from totally different things - warmth touching the back of neck when it's cold, or when I randomly remember an awesome memory from my past, or when you finally let go of that piss you've had to hold in for ages.

Actually, quite the opposite. Rain, forest and beach sounds can be inconsistent and unpredictable like expecting a thunder sound or bird chirping. Works for some; not for me.

There's nothing like a beautiful woman whispering sweet sounds into your ear. Not all ASMR videos are good, and if you're checking out from slip ups then the creator must be amateur, or it's not for you. The top quality work wouldn't have these issues with the mic.

I think a lot of the problem lies in people thinking they need to actually watch the clips, which in truth is the worst idea as any form of projected light is more likely to keep you awake. You're better off just to build a playlist of stuff you like, stick some earbuds put in, get your playlist running on random, put on a sleep mask and hit the hay.

I don't watch ASMR. My opinions are literally been forged by the stuff you guys are posting here. Post better stuff, I guess?

Another issue I have is that you can hear white noise in a lot of these videos posted in this thread and you don't have to have the volume crazy high to start noticing it.

Yeah once again quality is different with each person. Jellybean ASMR, Caroline ASMR, PPOMO ASMR, ASMR Glow, Candy Crush ASMR. Those people are all really good with what they do and most of them specifically have no whitenoise with their videos.

Sometimes even the whitehoise is a trigger so it depends on who you listen to or what works best for you,

Post better stuff? The ASMR vids I've posted have approx 4-5k likes and her channel has over 302k subscribers. She's doing something right in terms of providing quality content. Maybe you've got something wrong with your ears?

I like unintentional ASMR. I don't like the roleplaying stuff. Unintentional would be someone with a soft voice taking something apart or doing a review or whatever, just not intentionally doing ASMR. For me, ASMR is ruined if you try too hard.

Nice rant. You sound really bothered by this. Like more so than the occasional guy who doesn't *get* ASMR. The elevation of insults and dismissals is astounding. You might need more than ASMR to relax that tension. Might I suggest yoga?

I really enjoy ASMR, most of them are not really my taste but nails tapping on light glass has the most satisfiying effect with like thunderstorm / heavy rain to me. Others i enjoy are writing/drawing, chopping food and typing.

I dont mind soft speaking/ whispers in the videos but i dont look for it and im not a fan of chewing sounds. Some of the asmr channel have the worst disguised 30 mins ad for whatever that i feel bad that i support them when asleep.

There is nothing relaxing about anything in these all of these videos.
Personally I find these very, very creepy and can’t even picture someone finding these videos relaxing.
I new about listening to it raining or some other calming sound to help people sleep but these are really annoying to be honest, but to each his own and if people find these relaxing all the more power to them.

Seriously, if cancer had a sound it would be ASMR. I have perfect pitch and the misophonia kills me with these kinds of videos. People whispering is the worst kind of sound ever. But to each their own...
