Ummm, alrighty. So I just got an email from Plink saying the following...

To Our Loyal Plink Members,

With much sadness and heavy hearts, we are sorry to tell you that Plink is closing its doors. As of today, the Plink site will be shut down and the program will cease to function.

As a start-up, we are reliant on continued funding and over the last year we have been unable to secure any additional funding. Unfortunately, without that funding, Plink can no longer continue to operate. As a team, we did everything we could to keep Plink alive, but we have now run out of time and options.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our loyal members who have supported us for the last three years. As a team, we want to thank all of our members, for their loyalty and continuing to stick with us to the end. We couldn’t have made it this far without such an amazing loyal, committed group of members.

We also want to thank all of our advertisers and partners who supported us over the last three years. It was their belief in us and willingness to support a small start-up that allowed Plink to grow. We are proud to have partnered with some of the largest restaurant and retail brands in the United States.

Moving forward, all Plink accounts will be closed. No further points can be redeemed. Thanks to all from the Plink Team.

Any further questions can be directed to support@plink.com.

Sincerely,
The Plink Team

Did Plink seriously just completely shut down without any prior notice whatsoever? The entire site has been shut down and you get the above message when you go there now...

If you had any points at all, sorry, you're screwed. I had around $20 worth of credit that I was waiting to redeem. Ugh. I hate how sites can do things like this without any repercussions at all. I never worried about them having my information, but now I'm starting to think about that as well.

Well it was a very popular site. It's one of those sites where you signed up and when you used your credit card at certain retailers you got points in your Plink account. I've used it for quite a while and I would get Amazon gift cards all the time.

Popular you say?

I think they were closely partnered with Target. And if their whole deal was tracking registered debit card purchases for customer credit points and discounts, I could see how their biz could be hurt by recent events.

Very popular is relative, you should edit the OP.

So like Bing but with buying stuff instead of searching

I Googled Fatwallet and Pink and there weren't many hits.
If it didn't have traction with Fatwallet then it wasn't a popular site.

I'm not so sure of that...

Ok, maybe not as popular as I thought. Tons of people on my FB took part as well as many on the movie fourms and things like that which I visit. Still sucks though, I got a few hundred bucks of Amazon credit from them. I thought for sure at least a few here would know what it was.

It was fairly popular on money saving sites like slickdeals.

Was probably it's downfall.

Nobody using it but people on sites like FatWallet.com was probably a disaster. They are all about maximizing all possible rewards and they are like the heavy bit torrent users of the internet when it comes to coupon/deals.
