Doctor Strange 2 Director Out Due To Creative Differences

Darkmakaimura

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
What the title says.

Just saw it on MechaRandoms YouTube about it.

Kind of worried because Multiverse of Madness was my most anticipated movie. Would not be surprised if it had to do with the supposed horror tone or, because it's Disney/Marvel didn't check enough diversity checkboxes.

Either way I hope It's still going to happen and that they find someone good.

Edit: he will still be executive producer.

On another note Feige clarified Doctor Strange 2 really won't be a horror film. But that's kind of what I figured since they said the first movie was going to be like a horror film and it wasn't.

Make it so that Dr strange was Peruvian all along and he had to put on a disguise because he wanted to hide his real identity

Or make him Brazilian and a woman

Women can be doctors

I said in another thread how Benedict makes me feel a little sick when I look at him, despite that, I would rate Dr Strange as maybe the best of the Marvel stand-alone films. It also has the best female side-kick with Rachael McAdams

Hopefully Dr Strange 2 will be just as good, regardless of who directs it in the end.

Pity. I was looking forward to it since it sounded like it was going to move away from the template a bit more than usual. But I guess Disney likes to play it safe.

Just like Thor 3 has success with a change in tone, Dr Strange 2 could have done the same with some influences from other genres. Too bad.

I still would have liked to see Ant Man with its original director too.

I'm guessing Scott wanted to push further into the Cosmic Horror territory like he had mentioned during SDCC but Feige and Co. shot him down.

That's disappointing to hear. Doctor Strange is my favorite character out of the MCU. Hopefully marvel takes a chance with his character. They gotta take more chances with the MCU to keep it interesting.

Scott Tweeted a lot leading up to him dropping out. Last September he was complaining about last minute script additions in pre-production, and then a couple of weeks later they hired a new writer on it. Then he bitched about set release dates being the enemy of art and he quit. So no, it wasn't him wanting to make it more horror. He wanted more time on the movie instead of having to hit a deadline.

Nice to see another director with the balls to leave a project because of Disney's encroachment. Too bad the movie will be forgettable and mediocre now, like Ant-Man.

Thanks, didn't know this was the case and thought it was similar to the Ant Man situation with Edgar Wright. But then the big difference here is that Scott is still an EP and the separation seems mostly amicable unlike Edgar who cut all ties. You say he bitched but other than one tweet in December, Derrickson has been almost exclusively complaining about politics or talking about films on twitter from what I saw on his feed. Given how eager he was about Doctor Strange though, feels like he has had to reluctantly moved on.

What? Doctor Strange was garbage and easily the worst Marvel film!

Nahh. Thor 2 + 3 were easily worse than that, chuck in Iron man and black panther as well. Dr Strange was up there with the best of them.
It was the most underwhelming Marvel movie. (modern) That being said I only enjoyed Iron Man 1 and the first Guardians movie to date.

Thor 3 was good but I agree with the rest.

Thor 3, the one with Goldbloom and the hour long dragging out of getting Hulk? The film was about 3 hours too long, the 'baddy' was on screen for about 15 minutes and the pacing was terrible.

Most underwhelming? The characters were fun, the cinematography was Inception level of interesting, the love interest was the Goddess Rachel McAdams, it had a few good bad guys, a sort of plot twist and overall was well paced with good humour.

First Guardians was cool, probably my favourite 'team' film out of all of them. Guardians 2 just carried on with that.

My issue with Thor 3 is it was a bit too silly. It overdone it with humor.

I hear you about dragging it on with Hulk but this was more my complaint with Endgame. Bringing everyone back in the last 15 minutes of the movie? Wtf guys?

You're right, it was a bit silly. I liked the colourfulness of the rubbish/scrap-world but it seemed, a bit much.

When I was watching it, I couldn't help but feel like it was trying to copy Fifth Element with Chris Tucker being played by Goldblum.

Endgame was pretty shit tbh. Thanos saved Infinity War and Endgame

In your opinion they were. It was a boring movie to me.

You're right it did feel a lot like Fifth Element.

Infinity War blew me away. Best theater experience I ever had. The audience was literally on the edge of their seats. One of my favorite action movies experiences of all time.

Endgame was okay but quite the letdown after IW. I wanted more GOTG and Doctor Strange and the rest but they bring everyone back for one big fight in the last 15 or so minutes and I left wanting more.

Also the plot was way too predictable but that's a small gripe.

That's really strange, I thought IW was boring af. it felt like 2 hours of 'adverts' of all of the other Marvel films, with 15 minutes of fun at the end, ending with the snap. Although in IW, it told you Tony stark was going to die, which is why I was so surprised when people cried and felt sad when he died in EG.

Watched Doctor Strange again last night and it still holds up as one of my favorite MCU movies.

I even GOTG 2 and I'm a fan of GOTG but enjoyed Doctor Strange much more. But I guess it helps he was always my favorite Marvel character. I thought the film was very faithful to the comics.

I just hope Multiverse of Madness turns out as good if not better. It's the only upcoming MCU movie I'm really excited about.
