Sad ep.

I noticed that they are now the Williams instead of the Ponds on the gravestone heh.

Which ep was that kid Amy looking up scene from before?

Goddammit.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Wow, that episode. Beautiful. Goodbye Amy and Rory, you two were amazing.

Those final scenes were so good.

Doctor Who was just as cheesy and unbelievable as I wanted it to be. Anything more or less and I would be crying foul.

I'm going to miss the hell out of Rory though.

He's the only one who can talk to the Doctor like the Doctor is an idiot.

Great episode, but I think the focus is completely wrong for a final episode. There're very little Amy-Doctor interaction. Where Amy and Rory stood was never in doubt. The question that loomed over the current series is whether the Doctor could let them go. Felt wrong for that decision to be made by Amy not the Doctor.

Oh shut up everyone.

I'm sure we will see them again.

Karen Gillan will get work even if its not the best.

I'm worried more about Arthur Darvill...

I disagree, last episode had Brian telling the Doctor how they couldn't give him up, here Amy shows what matters most to her is Rory, not the adventure. It also packs a bit more of a weight to it to have them taken from him without him having the chance to take them away again, rather than him dropping them off saying he doesn't want to see them anymore.

It's pretty terrible for all their friends and family though, who'll never know what happened to them and will be wondering where they are for the rest of their lives. I assume Brian will think they have died while with the Doctor, but won't be able to tell anyone because who'd believe an alien took them away? So he'll probably end up a broken man with the weight of that on him. Amy's parents will be hit hard too. Fun stuff!

Of course she's sad, her career's about to go the same way as Billie Piper and Freema Agyeman.
loljk, she's way too attractive and America-friendly to not get work

Um, I don't get it?
Billie was already famous before Who and then did 4 seasons of Secret Diary of a Call Girl after it and Freema is in Law and Order.

BUT WHERE ARE THEY NOW

(Exaggerating for comedic effect. Is L&O:UK really still on? Good for them I guess)

Yeah, L&O UK has a seventh season planned.

I think Doctor Who is the only series where reactions are ALWAYS all over the place. I just read someone saying they should take Steven Moffat out back and shoot him. Jeez.

River: Does the bulb on top need changing?
Doctor: Just changed it.

:O :O :O

I do hope we get to see Rory's Dad at some point again :(

I was thinking it does seem like we'll see him (and River) ocassionally, so the Pond legacy will live on in some ways. :p

Wait. There's a Law & Order: United Kingdom? Next you're gonna tell me there's Sydney one and a Shanghai one.

Also... God, I don't want to be the Doctor when he has to tell Rory's dad. Or Amy's parents. (They are alive, right? Ever since the reboot of the universe?) They're all going to wonder why they never come back. It's the Doctor's duty to let them know....

Or he can just give each of them a copy of Melody's book I guess.

Hey, Billie Piper is attractive! From certain angles!

Yes please.

I have very little to say about this episode, as I really wasn't blown away with it.

  • I felt no emotion whatsoever at that ending
  • The reveal of Jenna at the end stirred more emotion inside me as I'm so excited for her! (And she's hawt)
  • WTF is with this image? Why is this plaque in the TARDIS? (Click for bigger pic)

edit: oh yeah, and Amy looked all kinds of bad during those final scenes, and not just the makeup, dat chubby face!

So can River still zap back and popin on mum and dad with her wrist time machine thingy any time?

That seems to be the case, yeah. Her vortex manipulator allows her to travel through time, but without the bulkiness of the TARDIS. She was able to pop into Angels-inhabited Manhattan using the vortex manipulator without a problem, so she can probably pop in and see Amy and Rory now and then.

Well that was...alright, I guess? The best companion send-off definitely. Got the angels back to being about half as scary as they were in Blink (after that fiasco of a two-parter). River song is annoying again, but she does get a couple choice lines. Not even going to touch the whole "can't go back" thing, its timey-wimey, I accept it. But the Statue of Liberty was fucking stupid. Don't do something like that unless you're going to go somewhere with it. Not one of my favorite episodes, and probably tied with PoT for weakest of the season so far for me in a vacuum (and PoT is only that low because of the conclusion), but it gains a few points for being a decent send-off.

I took the Doctor's line "They were your parents" to River to mean that he probably knows she can never see them again. I assume River can pop back but not interact with them.

Also, no one on Gallifrey Base seems to have started a thread about that Rolls Royce plaque. I wonder how so many people just ignored the fact that they specifically focused in on it. (Who knows why...I'm sure we'll find out next year...)

Oh yeah, the Oswin shot at the end. Is she also a time-traveller? Because based on Asylum she pretty much definitely wasn't from the time period depicted in the preview.

Lawl people on Tumblr thinking they died.
But they did. There's a grave and everything. :(

From what I know
the girl in the preview is Clara Oswald, while the girl from AotD is Oswin Oswald. But I expect there's a bit of timey wimey stuff involved, since both the audience and the Doctor were specifically told to remember her at the end of AotD, which wouldn't make much since if they weren't either closely related, or the same person.

Amy and Rory have just been boring companions to me. I understand why most people who've just gotten into the show when Smith started like the three of them together, as you have an emotional attachment to them being your first TARDIS group, but for someone like myself who has been watching before it was cool to watch, those two just don't do it for me.

I love Smith, and like River, and Jenna and Smith together are going to be brilliant, but I never really was able to feel anything emotionally towards those characters. Nothing like Ten and Wilf or Nine and Billie.

So, Space channel in Canada put The Angels Take Manhattan's brief synopsis on the channel guide on my cable as: "In the Season7 finale, the Doctor regenerates for the 10th time."

Good Guy Space not spoiling anything.

Hmmm...honest question, how long have you been watching? :p

I've watched every single episode on day of broadcast ever since it came back in 2005, loved the show like mad ever since Christopher Ecclestone said "Run!", and the only episode I've ever truly despised was "Love and Monsters".

Amy and Rory are number one with a fucking bullet.

This. As soon as he said 'Run!' I knew I was in for something special (Well, Mickie being eaten by a bin was kinda special).
