what I want to know is, does Air Combat 22 have a release date ?
I hope that Namco decides to do Ace Combat fans a huge favor and include the never-seen-at-home Air Combat 22 game with either Ace Combat Zero on PS2, or, the next-generation Ace Combat game for PS3.
Air Combat 22 from 1995 is completely different than Ace Combat 2 on Playstation released in 1997
the name Air Combat
22 is derived from the arcade hardware
it used, Namco's System Super 22 board, the same board that
powered Alpine Racer, Tokyo Wars and many others.
In late 1995 ~ early 1996 Namco announced (with NEC and Videologic) support for the then-new PowerVR graphics cards for PC.
Namco was porting Rave Racer, Tekken and
Air Combat 22 to the PowerVR chipset/card, for use on PCs.

In November, 1995, Namco Limited, the leading
arcade game manufacturer, announced it will be porting games
such as Rave Racer, Air Combat 22 and Tekken to PowerVR.

PC will be getting Rave Racer, Ridge Racer, Air Combat 22, and Tekken. However all those games with the exception of Ridge Racer will need the Power VR chip.

the PowerVR system will get a similarly powerful ally given
that Namco and NEC have already announced their alliance. Rave Racer,
Tekken and Air Combat 22 are all now complete and ready for release in
May for the PowerVR system.
but not one of those ported arcade games ever got released on PC and Namco acted as if its support of the PowerVR cards never existed.
here is the System Super 22 arcade version of Air Combat 22

Air Combat 22's graphics and speed is much greater than that of any of the PS1 Ace Combat games. how so? because Air Combat 22 runs at 60 frames per second in high resolution with highly detailed textures. PS1 Ace Combat games all run at 30 frames per second in lower resolution with lower texture detail.
only PS2 with Ace Combat 4, 5 and Zero surpass Air Combat 22 in graphics.
my hope is that Namco will do for Ace Combat Zero, or the next-gen Ace Combat game for PS3, what it did for PS2 Tekken 5. What I mean is, include an arcade history mode with both Air Combat and Air Combat 22 arcade games.
