Does anyone else prefer the first Soul Calibur over the second?

I just went back and played SC1 for the first time in awhile, and I found my self having alot more fun with it than I ever did with the sequel.

SC1 just felt better to me using the DC controller I guess.

Anyone else enjoy SC1 more?

I'm with you on this one. I played the first often up to the release of II, and it feels better. It's probably because of 4 years of playing, but no matter the reason, I prefer the first to the second. The second is awesome though.

Wait, I just remembered the real reason SC1 > SC2. The announcer doesn't say, "But the soooul still burns" in SC2.

SC1 wins by default.

I can't really say I prefer the first one over the second game play wise, but I did prefer the character designs in the original.

Really the main difference between the two games is when they were released, SC1 was an absolutely stellar title, while SC2 was a huge dissapointment to me.

That being said, I'm getting pretty excited about SC3. Hopefully it lives up to my expectations.

I had more fun with Soul Edge/Blade.

How is this even possible? Soul Blade was 25/30fps garbage, much less moves, much worse graphics, didn`t flow at all.. Soul Calibur is probaly the biggest improvement in a fighter sequel ever.

Oh well, I`m sure there are people who think VF1 is more fun than 4 also.

SC2 is crap? Whose asshole are you people pulling that from?

Edge Master in place of Charade is about the only thing SC1 has over its sequel.

It`s crap in that I have more fun playing the prequel which came out around 5 years earlier. Looks worse also due to terrible art. The mission mode stuff is also worse than it was on SC1.
And the crap boss yes.

It DOES appear to be Retard Day, indeed. Sega Dreamcast fanboys who simply can't let the PS2's massive victory over their favorite hardware go are pretty much the very MASCOTS of retardation.

Well, it could simply be that I bothered learning the game properly, how to play it...and I did it because I had fun while doing so. I didn't feel nearly as motivated to do that in Soul Calibur...I was very hyped for it, bought an import DC just for that very game...but it never "clicked" with me, for some reason. Hence, I had more fun with Soul Edge/Blade. :)

Also, I liked the presentation and atmosphere in Soul Edge/Blade more...the music, the edge master mode, the interactive endings, the different weapons you could use.

Here's the problem I had with SC1. Mitsarugi was WAY overpowered. His "pick you off the ground sweep" and keep doing over, and over again was shit.

They minimized that in SC2. Both have thier problems, but SC2 has less, and more importantly less game ruining ones.

Most of the charactors are balanced in SC2, and the graphics are 2x better ta' boot.

SC2 all the way.

(I write my opinions becuase me and my brother had ALOT, and most of the time VIOLENT marathons of SC1, and 2, and he used Mitsarugi, and I used Cervantes. We both came to the conclusion that SC2 is the more balanced of the two. We played a ton of matches of both, using the same charactors just to see, and without a shadow of a doubt, SC2 is the better, more balanced fighter)

I prefer SC1 on DC.

I think it's more to do with the "WOW" factor. When SC came out back in 99 it was just amazing looking and still holds to this day.

Whereas SC2 I just felt underwhelmed. Just didn't feel like much of an improvment over the original.

Yeah, i had some great nostalgic moments created by that announcer.

The only thing i like better in SC2 are the gameplay and graphics (on a technical level). Visually, the stages in the first SC were more wowwing, the music was better, and i loved the intro of the first. Overall, the first game's presentation just rocked the second.

Hey now. The DC has, like, two games tops that haven't been ported/bested on other systems, but I might like the original more.

I really don't know yet.

The Vs. screen in Soul Calibur 2 totally freaks me out. Ugh. I have no desire to look at those creepy, cross-eyed freaks before each match!

*shudders*

And it's so much worse when it animates.
