Does anyone here browse reddit occasionally

I deleted reddit acct but i occasionally will go back because of how the system works well for searching a specific topic of interest. And when an opinion arises the temptation to raise your voice on it…but then again its prly a bot.

I visit reddit on occasion, when my search for specific subjects points me there. But I never have, and never will, create an account/interact with it.

Yeh sometimes. I see some people talking about Reddit as it all being a total shithole. And I'm sure there are some shitty parts to it. But really it's a bunch of communities and so what might be true of some parts aren't of others.

I still prefer the messageboard layout that we have here on GAF but it's handy having communities dedicated to niche interests.

I look on it often, I don't know why so many people here find it so triggering.

I look at groups dedicated to bands I like or film discussion, etc. etc. And it's just people talking about those things.

Yeah occasionally, some manga/videogame subreddits are pretty alright.

I stay far away from the more general subreddits though. Niche subreddits aside it's an incredibly sanitized echo chamber with zero room for non-conformist opinions, run by a handful of basement-dwelling lunatics. It's just a miserable place to be.

It's good for finding people who have a specific problem you're trying to resolve. I often Google with "Reddit" in the search to avoid Quora and the like which are useless for solving stuff.

This is basically why a few human accounts are still active on reddit. Niche communities. For broad topics, you always have options. This forum for gaming, or your team's fansite for sports, etc. But for niche things like scifi books, or a particular show or game, it's difficult to find a community outside reddit. Maybe Discord. But Discord is also a shithole.

Yeh I don't really post on it but I like that I can curate a feed of things I'm interested in and see discussion around those topics.

The other thing it's good for is finding a solution to a problem.

When I need some info, say modding or repairing, often times search result would led me to some subreddit. Feel disgusted giving them clicks but at least the technical related subreddit don't have some soft of identity crisis.

I visit it daily, just like neogaf. I'm not a political person, far left vs far right to me is idiocracy, I can deal with both crazies here and there, and by that, I just ignore shit. Reddit just like gaf has some good shit, like r/shitposting.
