Can we get a ban here. This goes on in thread after thread after thread. Only a complete troll would state that Halo 2 is not GOTY material.

In defence of XS+, although it's known he doesn't like Halo2, I think he was getting at the same point I was making, that games that have lost out in the Platform Awards, would logically be beaten by the game that won the Platform award in the Overall award...

i.e. Halo2 can't win, because Burnout3 beat it as Xbox GOTY, therefore if Halo2 won overall why would Burnout3 be Xbox GOTY???

There are opinions and there is trolling. Perhaps I'm not astute enough to discern the difference. BO3 could be GOTY I have no problem with that. It's awesome. To say however that Halo2 shouldn't be considered borders on trolling or perhaps just stupidity. To give an example. My feeling on GTA is blah. Good game nothing great, but I would never ever be so stupid, much less let a community of fellow gamers see my ignorance in declaring GTA:SA not GOTY material. So is he ignorant or is he trolling? I'll leave that to the powers that be.

Agreed, but in this instance I reckon it was just a logical observation on who might win Gamespots Overall GOTY, based on Platform winners.

No, I'm pretty sure he was actually saying that Halo 2 should not be considered simply because he believes it is a poor game. He's entitled to his opinion, of course, but one must remember that a game can be considered GREAT even if YOU do not care for it.

There have been plenty of games that I've played and somewhat disliked but was still able to realize that they were of high quality. XS is running around all kinds of threads constantly reminded everyone how much he dislikes Halo 2. It happens so often that I really would consider it trolling. He's not interested in discussing WHY he disliked, he just wants to stir up the hive with an unpopular opinion. He's causing trouble and he knows it. That's trolling...

Using that poll as an indicator of anything is beyond retarded. You have 2 games that clearly ate into eachother's votes because they share the same genre and are vying for the same audience (Half-Life 2 and Halo 2). MGS3 had absolutely no competition for it's own audience. It would be like the effect of having a serious third-party candidate in America - they would simply split the votes of the more popular candidate that shares their audience and the other guy would end up winning.

That doesn't absolve me from including any additional smacks in your direction. After all, you instigated. You said what I did was "beyond retarded" (beside that it, in fact, was not -- "PARTIALLY"). So I simultaneously noted my deep consideration for those concerned, and identified you as what I believe you to be (hey, I didn't say "fanboy"). For the record, I've come to associate that avatar with particular leanings and such. You've had it for some time, but have changed names.

The plain fact of the matter was that I was waiting to make my tirade ever since the thread was locked, since it basically became a pissing contest, and I know inevitably it would come up as a point in numerous threads. And frankly, I think the argument still stands, and hasn't really been contradicted.

The "beyond retarded" comment wasn't intended to be directed at you. It was intended more or less to be intended for the content of the thread, and the stupidity of using it to say MGS3 is the GOTY. I apologize from the poor wording and the perceived attack on you. I still think the reaction was somewhat touchy, but whatever.

I acknowledged the intent. That it was a "smack" just for the sake of it (I was insulted!). It had nothing to do with "invalidating your argument" since I felt I had already done that.

As for the "leanings" comment, I'm talking about the Gaming forum (relative to "Xbox fan"). For wherever you may feel they reside, I had built up a particular correlation between that avatar and someone who prefers the Xbox (at least as opposed to the PS2 or GC). Not because of what the avatar represents (don't know what it is - doesn't matter), but in what posts I read with that accompanying image.

While I love BO3, I still think Halo 2 or possibly Riddick (H2, best Xbox online title, Riddick, better 1p title IMO) should have been XBox's GOTY.

As for overall GOTY? MGS3 baby, blew my fucking face off.
