Does Koji Kondo actually COMPOSE music anymore?

I have offered a perfectly valid argument; his legendary status is squarely a result of him being fortunate (or perhaps foresightful) enough to get on the boat at a point where less was required. The reason people play his songs to this day is because they associate those songs with games they remember fondly, not because the songs are musical masterpieces.

Let me know when you have a counterargument that is a wee bit more substantial than "he's a legend!", and I'll get back to you.

You want a counterarguement? Easy. How many other 8-bit tunes are as memorable? If it was so easy to be a giant in the field back then, where are the other songs that still get played in concerts? There were tons of very successful games before the ones Koji Kondo worked on; the whole initial arcade revolution and Atari/Coleco/Intellivision era. there were tons of very successful games right alongside Nintendo's on the NES. Where are the ones whose music can stand alone, outside of the respective games, and still be loved?

Kenta Nagata did that cool piano dungeon remix. That was freakin awesome.
"Farewell Hyrule King"? If they released an entire CD filled just with variations on that two minute song, I would buy it

Kondo's private bitches(his music team) do his bidding nowadays. He doesn't really compose much these days.

Kenta Nagata, Hajime Wakai, Ryoji Yoshitomi, Minako Hamano, Kenji M. Yamamoto, Kazumi Totaka, Akito Nakatsuka. >>>>>> Koji Kondo

Can ya give credits to each of these guys? You are the Nintendo WIKI personified. :D

Guys, not to burst your collective bubbles, but Kazumi Totaka ("K.K. Slider" guy) and Shinobu Tanaka did the Luigi's Mansion music... not Kondo.
