According to other emails, her staff said there must not be any bananas in any of the spaces she entered at an event she was attending. "We will secure the conference so that there are no bananas," read the response.

Bizarre. The woman just needs to seek help for her phobia, rather than getting government employees to waste time ensuring no bananas are in any room she enters.

Right there in the article. Banana allergy is a thing and symptoms can be quite severe.

I dont know that. People with nut or cat allergies definitely try and avoid being in the same room as such things. And i can definitely see people develop phobias of said objects due to said allergies.

And before you ask. Yes, the associated particles for banana allergies can be airborne too.

People don't have panic attacks if there are foods they can eat in the room.
They just make sure that they don't eat those foods.
Otherwise, people with allergies could never go to a restaurant, a bakery, supermarket, etc.

No. This is ridiculous. An allergy is a physical reaction of the body due to elements it cannot assimilate. It's not the same as a phobia, which has a psychological base. She is just fucking stupid, that's it.
 
I just saw the House of the Dragon season finale and one of the characters described his banana being split like a sausage on a spit after being severely burned by Dragon Fire: I'm glad I did not see his banana after this incident
