Doom 3 and Starforce?

If Doom uses starforce... it WILL be cracked... regardless of whether it has or hasnt been already.

Thats the reason Im actually kinda happy if Doom realy uses it.
AFAIK it has not been broken so far, but it could be cause no one found the games using it to be worth too much effort.
Im curious to see if and how long it will last, on a game that most in the scene will try their best to crack.

Folks have been trying pretty hard to crack Starforce 3. For those people that spend their time doing that kind of thing, the uncrackable is far more entertaining than making some easily cracked game available. It's a badge of honor if you "win".

It's a pretty good sign that Starforce is very, very good protection if TOCA2 , which shipped in like April, has not yet been cracked. That's WAY longer than any recent game for like the last five or more years.

Im sorry but any file that installs itself silently without user knowledge, then hides itself and hinders other legit programs from loading in my opinion is a virus.

Like you need Alcohol or Daemon for anything but burning illegal copies of copy-protected material
Well Daemon is actually pretty nice since you don't have to be swapping out CDs all the time and having to deal with shitty CD checks that can hinder a game's performance.

As far as I can tell, Starforce 3 has been cracked. There are several No-CD patches for TOCA 2 on one of the more reliable/popular sites (hint: GameCube + W). I can't test but given the place's popularity and notoriety, I suspect they wouldn't have phony stuff up.

Breed uses Starforce 3, and has had a pirated version out since April 18. Go look up the NFO at a release site if you like....it doesn't appear that getting the game to run is any involved process:
Code:
1) Unrar with WinRAR.
    2) Burn the .cue and .bin with Nero Burning Rom software.
    3) Install the game.
    4) Overwrite the RunBreed.exe with the crack from the DEViANCE dir.
    5) Generate a key using our Keygen , also to be found in DEViANCE on the CD
    5) And then play :)

The Breed one is based on a rip as noted earlier in the thread, it's not based on the original release in stores.

The TOCA RD2 patches are fakes. They don't work or they require you to have multiple PCs or do very strange things to your machine to make them work.

In short, it's easier to buy the game if you want to play it.

For once Dave, I completely agree with you. Big roofles to those in thread saying this. Like you need Alcohol or Daemon for anything but burning illegal copies of copy-protected material. :bigfuckingrolleyes
what!? alcohol is a great emulation tool... make a disk image of my legally purchased games and play via the image and not need to have the cd around...

Heck no. I actually use those virtual drives all the time for legal gaming. For various CD based emulators, I have found that games run much better from a virtual drive. For instance, with PSX emulation, CD access often causes all kinds of slowdown and pauses (especially in the audio). If you are using the original CD, this occurs frequently. However, when running from a ISO you make with Alcohol and then mounting it...the game runs MUCH better.

Regardless, they have no right to invade my computer and force my to remove certain pieces of software. This may be small right now, but imagine where it could go...

What are you talking about? I told ya...go look up the NFO on ISONews. It is listed under "Games", not "Game Rips". It is 50 rars x 15mb/rar...that's a 750 mb warez release for a single CD game. How could anything be ripped?

Why would it matter if the video/audio files were ripped anyhow? They are still getting a supposedly "protected" EXE file to run without any problems. Whether or not they include superfluous media files is irrelevant, from a cracking angle.

On exactly the same day, two groups released Breed. Deviance released the full CD version, Myth released a rip.....that's two hacker groups that have cracked Starforce 3! They did it one month after the European release, and 2 weeks after the American release (not sure which version the warez is based on). Either way, they know how to cut through this stuff and I'm sure they are salivating over the release of id's new game....Starforce or no Starforce.

I use Daemon's tool to mount my legit cd images. I actually buy a lot of pc games, and as soon as i get home, i dump them using ddump and load the images in Daemon's tool and hide the originals away. I hate having to swap cds to play games. I just swap the cd images in memory and thats it.

I pre-ordered Doom3, and i cant wait to get it, but if there's that fucking copy protection on it, i'll be pissed off.

I heard that Nick Shaffner of Vavle is hard at work figuring out way to make Half Life 2 solid.

I'm sure half life 2 wont contain starforce seeing as how you have to log on to steam every time you play it.

Starforce 3 - Another reason to get the Xbox version ;)

I still think you are insane, considering the type of PC you own...

Surely you can see just how much better it looks on the PC even at low detail.

If it's got this spyware, I'm going to buy it, and then pirate.

If anyone thinks this deters piracy, don't fool yourself. Suprnova.org will have it cracked within two days max. Hell, maybe before it's out.

It just annoys real customers like me. I simply don't accept spyware.

*cough* Dev and yth are one and the same ;) *cough*

Doom 3 is using Securom 5

There are, right now, 3 or 4 people in the world able to crack a SF3 game. SF3 will soon get old, the real challenge will be the TAGES protection

Congrats, you are now officially a troll.

I think it simply means he'll pirate the XBOX version if that's the easier version to steal:(

Border: You know may too much information to know this recreationally. So even though I hate pirates, if you wanna check to see if you have StarForce installed, go to device manager, menu > View > Check View Hidden Devices. I can't remember which device it shows up in, but they'll now be some StarForce files shown.

Soldiers uses SF3, and you don't even have to use a no cd or crack. Burn the game a certain way and it's as if you have the original....
