Anyone know if that is compatible with Windows XP. I've heard conflicting reports, some people say their mouse doesn't work.

It doesn't matter. It has the .Wad files, so you can use this http://www.doomsdayhq.com/

JDoom has 3D support and new models are available for everything.

Of course, after downloading the shareware Doom to get my Doom fix, I remembered, once more, that I have been sick of doom for the last 8 years.

You're quite welcome. I thought it had modern control options too, but I have only been able to find a mouselook option which is in the original menu. I have seen nothing in the new menu for WASD control.

Some of the new special effects are quite nice.

just installed the doom collectors edition, and yes, it does run in xp. you should still be using jdoom, in any case. it rox.

I like Legacy Doom a bit better...mouse+1280x800 support!

Don't forget ZDoom. Really well-done source port without gaudy extras.
