What I'm asking is, do you think it's possible to kill a Cyber Demon using only your punching attack or the chainsaw? This is without using cheats, bug exploits, or modding the game in anyway. The kill must be made on an original game map in which a Cyber Demon appears(e.g. Tower of Babel).

Of course you could just turn on God Mode and slug the piss outta the bastid, but cheats violate the criteria of your scenario.

I doubt it. It'd take like 1000 hits, and I doubt there are any tricks to not get hit by that missle.

Hell, it's a pain even on god mode.

You could probably do it with about 100 berserk-powered punches...but you'd never live that long anyway.

i've done it in the original doom games

and it's impossible in doom 3 because you get stepped on.

I've done it and I've done it with the Spider Mastermind too. It just takes forever.

I remember doing it with cheats on, and the thing that made it a bitch is that his damage area is smaller than his bounding box - i.e. you could literally be right up next to him and attacking him, but missing. It would be extraordinarily difficult (i.e. you'd have to hit him face-on every attack.

Of course it's possible. Name something ridiculous and dozens of members of the hardcore Doom community have probably done it. They used to have this thing called the Doom Honorific Titles that was based around playing through the game using certain styles. One attainable title was Tyson -- using only the fists (+berserk), pistol and chainsaw.

Any TRUE doomhead has accomplished this feat. Nothing particulary amazing. Amazing would be taking on 4 Cyberdemons and a spider demon with a handgun.

I'd figure you'd have all the demons do most of the work for you.

That's actually pretty easy, it just turns into protect the Spider Mastermind and let him rip apart the Cyberdemons while hiting them with your handgun to draw their attention.

Punching a Cyberdemon to death is also pretty easy in the original doom series as his rockets are fairly easy to strafe around, in some mods they actually have you start with no weapons and you have to either take him down with your fists or figure out a puzzle and trap him in it.
