Using flashget now to grab a 150mb file. seems to be going a little quicker, but with broadband is there much point? maybe on dialup it's better or something but it seems like bloatware a little bit.

Not since broadband, and especially not since Opera. (resume option)

Besides, downloading big stuff goes through newsgroups, instead of the browser

Do most integrated download managers (default in Firefox) have the ability, like Flashget, to basically rape a server and trick it into thinking 5 people are downloading instead of one.. effectively giving 5x more bandwidth than you should be getting? ;)

I think so, but I just downloaded the sonic demo from some site and it tried to do that, but you can see in the details the website rejecting "more than 2 connections" so I guess you can rape a website, but only if they aren't very on to it I suppose.

I use Getright on a few files, just in case Opera screws up. I wish IGN would have a special Insider-download gadget to get the bigger files.
