Today I stumbled upon some screenshots of the Sega Ages Dragon Force (see below post). I wondered, did anyone play the original on the Saturn? What was it like? Was it good? Because it looks awesome, and the idea of hundreds of sprites in battle sounds awesome, I'd love to know more about the game.

They're from the remake. And yeah, it just looks like a higher resolution Saturn port.

Talked to Bob Sapp tonight on the phone and he agrees with me, all Sega Ages games need to die

I actually own and still play Dragon Force 1 US for Saturn and I have Dragon Force 2 Jap still sealed in my closet.. I really hope this makes it over the boarder I would love to play a remake since my saturn no long plays has and working controller pads.

I will try to quantify my love for this game. It takes about 30-40 hours to play through it (if you do all the subquests) - and you can play from one of eight different kingdoms/main characters. I did all of them over the summer it came out. Took about 300+ hours, and and the only reason my devotion died down is becuse school started again.

The game fucking rules.

My friend would go on a crazy rampage in his underwear, downtown, if this WAS coming out in North America.

Here's hoping.

Besides, he talks about it so much, I'm interested in it too.

This game is soooo much fun. Are the releasing the remake in the States?

I heard a rumor Working Designs may be porting it. Vic are you there? Any update you can give us on this?

It's a fun romp but the game isn't as substantial as most other SRPGs or Simulation games of its type. I would like to pick it up just to own it but I wouldn't even consider putting it on any of my favorite game lists heh.

I think what it lacks in substance it more than makes up for in all out fun and character. Im sure a lot of the RPG "elite" around here would hate on this game but overall its just a really fun and memorable experience.

I would say that the fact that it has 100 vs 100 battles playing out in real time is the single reason this pathetic game gets so much attention.

It's like a KOEI simulation game, without any of the depth of commanding a kingdom, and without any depth of sending your army to battle.

looks like a straight saturn port with some new art added and it has a blurry look to it. This game is so awesome but really..will this make the saturn version obsolete? I hope not as there is just something about owning an orignal rare classic. And I hope working designs has nothing to do with this game...it would never come out. Let sega port it and use the saturn translation as the basis. The only thing WD could do that i would want is packaging.

+1 if it has the old debug code! I loved controlling the enemies to help speed things up (after I've beaten the game proper of course). ^_^

What system are they looking to release it on?

Edit: Scratch that actually clicked on the website link. I'd assumed it'd be pointless since it was a .jp addy but i see the huge picture lol.

!!! Man I loved this game and have been considering hooking up my Saturn again to play it. Looks pretty cleaned up in the pics above. :D

I think the game has 50% more stages than the Saturn version, it's more like a remake + extension of the original!

Dragon Force is one of my favorite games ever.

I don't know why. It can frequently be tedious at times, the menus aren't really the most intuitive (especially when fortifying/searching castles), and it's not like the gameplay changes or evolves a whole hell of a lot over the course of the game...but IT'S SO GOOD. :D

I actually went through the game and beat it with Izumo a few weeks ago. I might go through and play as Fandaria next (I never did play through that scenario...stupid Saturn's limited memory and battery life).

Note that I have been playing Dragon Force recently despite possessing (and not yet having beaten) Metal Gear Solid 3, Half-Life 2, Ace Combat 5, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Phantom Brave, Metroid Prime 2, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, KOTOR II, and so on and so forth. :lol

Maybe I should start playing some of those more often, actually...
