Only thing pushing me to buy this game is pure nostalgia. I played through DQ1 when NP sent it out free to new subscribers. Years later I tried one of the monster games for GB and it sucked horribly. Then I got Slime Mori Mori and I jizzed my pants. I like games that give me full control over my movements. Then I got Caravan Hearts and was let down yet again.

Watched my girlfriend play V on and off. She played it pretty heavily until she discovered Zelda for the first time. Wind Waker to be exact. From that little window of observation I didn't like what I saw. She also has IV and VI but hasn't touched any of them since.

Same thing with me, except I haven't played any Dragon Warrior since getting the original for free by suscribing to Nintendo Power when I first got my NES. Out of all the games in the series, I really couldn't get into DQVII, which everyone seems to love. However I have seen the light with DQVIII and it is glorious. When you hear the old-school victory sound effect for the first time you can't go back.

If you like RPGs and haven't got this, get it now. Though I took a 3 week hiatus from it due to finals and other things, now that I'm back I'm just as addicted as ever. This is the most fun I've had gaming this generation, and it could end up being my favourite RPG ever (this was my 1st Dragon Quest btw.)

Oh and Dragonquest is easily the best RPG of 2005. Fucking great game and I'm only 26:30 in (Chateux Felix quest at the moment)
