DS Biohazard Deadly Silence website opens

Okay, now I'm excited.

The graphics look better there, and I bet they end up looking nice in motion.

The coolest feature, I think, is the top screen map. I know a lot of people say a map is a lame half assed feature (and yeah, most of the time it is), but in games like Mario Kart DS and now Biohazard DS, it really adds to the gameplay. Having a constant map on screen during RE makes going around a lot less frustrating, I think.

Movies please.

Hopefully they announce that RE game for PSP starring Sherry with RE4 gameplay that EGM had as a rumor a while back.

Saves having to keep pressing Start to see where you are on the map!
Looks nicer too, as always with DS games when correctly sized
 
Isn’t the capacity of the cards DS games are on, expanding over time?

So surely we can expect bigger better looking games, or is the hardware and not storage the stopping point

3DMatrix's current maximum card size is 256 MB, I believe. At least, it was last I checked the company's website like 6 months ago.

And the DS hardware is quite capable. It's easily more powerful than the N64, PS, and Saturn. It's probably about midway between the N64 and the DC in terms of raw graphical power. Increased cart sizes will allow developers to put more detail into the models and textures of their DS games and store them at better quality.

my understanding is the current largest size is 1gbit [128mb], but reggie said '1gbit and beyond', so i imagine there isn't a limit as such. cost will be the limiting factor.

Nah, 3DMatrix developed a 256MB card last fall, I think. That's the max as far as I know, right now.
 
The DS is quite capable but games can only look so good when the hardware lacks filtering. It was a huge mistake to leave that out. Still, this will look quite good on the NDS I reckon.
 
Graphics will look great on the small screen of the DS. Mario 64...Nanostray all look terrific. Pixilation isn't really an issue to be honest.
 
I'm getting this game as soon as it comes out. =P

Imagine a Resident Evil game staring Evil Knievel! You ride around inside the RE1 mansion on your motorcycle and you kill zombies by jumping over them with your motorcycle. I would call it... Resident Knievel!

They're probably just reusing their PS1 assets. And I fail to see why people are getting excited over a 10 year old PS1 port.

Don't forget, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow uses a screen for the map as well, which is invaluable in that series; I used to refer to the map constantly, so having it readily viewable is great.

I just wish the website had some gameplay movies. I'm really curious to see how it looks in motion. I still can't believe they rendered everything -- even the backgrounds -- just to incorporate the first-person element. Here's hoping it's optional, because if you have no choice but to go first person for using your knife, guess I'll be wasting a lot more ammo than I normally would (normally I shoot them 'til they drop, then knife them 'til they're dead).

Cuz. Resident Evil was a great game back then and it's still a great game now. Not to mention, the stuff that they're adding to it is bound to reek of coolness.

Thats true, I remember seeing Mario 64 for the first time hand on and the pixelation wasnt half as bad as it looked in screens.

I just wish they had taken the backgrounds from the GC remake and made them non-animated, but if these backgrounds are realtime then that may make up for it.

I thought it was suppose to use RE4 camera perspective.

Those pictures don't look like over-the-shoulder action to me.
Looks like normal RE1 view.

That was just a rumor before these screens showed up. Though, we'll probably have to see the game in motion. There's a first-person knife mode so who knows what else is in there.

It'd be cool if you had a choice which you wanted to use (the regular third person or over-the-shoulder third person). They could do it since the backgrounds aren't prerendered... The DS' screen aspect ratio would make it work like a charm. Here's hoping!
 
With most likely another year or so the game should look better, especially when on the actual DS screens and in motion. And now that the screenshots are darker, they definitely look a bit better.

The DS-specific features also look nice. Wiping the blood off the touch screen when you shoot off a zombie's head isn't innovative, but it is neat. The map screen will also help a lot and there seems to be new puzzles (according to that keypad and record player) as well as wireless multiplayer.

I'm also looking forward to this game simply because of what it is. It's a full 3D game that will probably take a good 12 hours or so to beat the first time through. I'm also expecting a few voice patterns (not whole cutscenes like in the original) and the same great storyline that was in the first game.

This should set a precedent for future DS games.
