Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
I'm moving, and have ended my terms with Earthlink DSL which I have been using for a couple years now. I am switching over to SBC Ameritech(the hub place or whatever is actually only 880 feet from my building apparently, which is supposedly very good for quality) ANyone have experience with Ameritech DSL?

I will be stepping up to a 3.0 GB connection, which is I think double my previous 1.5 setup. How will this upgrade affect my gaming/browsing/downloading exactly?

Also Microsoft has a promotion going with SBC which nets me a free 12 month XBL kit + Crimson Skies for signing up which I will be giving to a good friend since I am already hooked up.

I use SBC. It was previously Ameritech here in Chicago. Where are you moving to?

Anyway, my experience has been quite good overall. I have no complaints and the speed is generally as advertised, although I've had problems recently (which seem to be due to issues within my actual house wiring).

Almost never disconnected and it runs well. I think you'll be fine. I'm too far from their building to get the faster set-ups sadly. I'd be all over that Pro $40 a month plan otherwise.

I think you mean 3 Mb. Download speeds won't really improve your gaming much as it's more dependent on your upload speeds and ping times. For regular internet browsing I doubt you'll see much of a difference either. Larger downloads from servers and p2p that can max out your download will, of course, take half the time to DL.
