How the hell do I remove the damn showerhead?

Tried to use wrench but I'm unable to get a good grip on the ring to rotate it.

What other tool can I use?

Take a washcloth or thick rag and wrap it around the showerhead so you don't scratch it, while you use a pair of channel-lock pliers to grip it and twist.

I wouldn't use a channel lock. The teeth will bite through just about anything.

An adjustable wrench is what you're supposed to use. Just use some masking tape around the ring, and tighten the wrench over the flats as much as you can. Then turn.
