Not a whole lot this week.

Complete list

Notable mainstream films:

B00068WOH8.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

And a double dip:

B0006B2A2E.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

The first disc is identical to the original DVD release, so you can get by without upgrading.

Also:

B000667HBS.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

The best thing out this week is probably the new Stacy Peralta documentary:

B0006D3HDS.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Also available in a two-pack with his previous film, Dogtown and Z-Boys. Even if you're not a skater or a surfer, these are good blind buys.

Joke DVD of the week:

Not bad but coming weeks is where real action is. Anyone find any $30 or under deals on BTAS Box 2 or Superman S1?

COCKLES

Anyone getting fed up with these 'Unrated XXXTREME versions'? You rearely get anything better. Look at Girl Next Door? Did you see Elisha Cuthbert indulging in hot streamy naked sex? NO! :(

The best part about this entire movie is seeing Nathan Jones (remember him?) getting stabbed in the neck. Thankfully, this happens about five minutes in and then you can stop watching. Brad Pitt should stay away from historic epics.

OMFG that never clicked that was the wrestler from the WWE! He's also in Jackie Chan's First Strike according to us.imdb.com...I'm gonna have to check that out... AND he's in the sequel to Ong Bak?!?!?!

"This time, the muay Thai hero played by Jaa squares off against a bad guy played by Australian Nathan Jones, a former wrestler and contestant in the Strongest Man in the World competition, who previously appeared in Jackie Chan’s “First Strike” (1997), and more recently in “Troy” as the guy who gets stabbed by Brad Pitt early on in the film."

He also fought a worked match in one of the early Pride shows. Seriously, the guy is like the Kevin Bacon of the combat sports world.

Nothing for me, thanks. However, I will be using the slow week (and, more importantly, a bit of Xmas cash) to pick up:

Yeah....the EXTREMELY DIRTY UNRATED EDITIONS are getting really silly. Usually it's like one extra pair of breasts on a supporting character or non-speaking extra -- and that's it.

The only title worth a damn in the entire thread...still need to pick this up.

And I always figured the unrated versions didn't show much more then the previous versions. Fraudulent advertising like that should be illegal.

Just picked up Troy at Best Buy ($15 w/ bonus disc), and before they would let me pay:

"Do you have a Best Buy card?"

"No"

"Would you like one?"

"No"

"Do you have a Reward Zone card?"

"No"

"We have a free gift for you today, eight free issues..."

"No"

Holy shit. It took forever just to pay $17 for one fucking DVD. Their receipt had some survey thing that I was glad to take just to tell them how fucking annoying it is to shop there.

What I'm getting sick of are these special edition DVDs that are released like only 3 months later. I can understand 3 years later, but BAH!

I checked it out and the latest Eternal Sunshine doesn't have all that much new (an interview with Winslet and a booklet! wow!), but it does say disc 2 has more deleted/extended sceens. Grr!

Well at least the version I have doesn't have such a lame ass cover...

Yes! I'm also very tired of these covers showing boobs with something blocking them saying how unrated it is. The truly unrated would have it written with a marker on her boobs.

I picked this up last night and spent quite a while wallowing in it. It's glorious, with the only drawback being that I now have "I Love To Singa" stuck in my head. Worth owning for What's Opera, Doc? alone.

Bow down before the raw power of the greatest cartoon short of all time. When you throw in the Three Little Bops, Porky in Wackyland, One Froggy Evening, and dozens more, this set goes from a must have to a crucial necessity for continued existence.

Oh, and one more thing:

"HEY GRANDMA! I BROUGHT A LITTLE BUNNY RABBIT FOR YA...TA HAVE!"

Next week... the best DVD upgrade EVER gets released!

Don't sleep on it b*tches! :D :D :D

That cover is a bit overstated... I like the original cover better.

Yup and the Leon Deluxe Edition is the same day.

Man, I am super stoked about Fifth Element as I hate Superbit and the original release sucked. Some hack job on the new cover though and have you even looked at the quote on the box? I'll need to take this one out of the store in a brown bag of shame.

Dead

well not really...yet
Although it doesnt come out til next week, I found the Ghost in the Shell SE. At first I thougt the packaging was nice but one I tried to open it I found out the Tr ansparent Slip Cover is so tightly fit to the digipak its a battle to get it back in. I dont know how long til it tears....seems inevitable. Another job well done manga.

oh and 6 languages?? Do we really need a German and Italian dub???

New version of Leon The Professional comes out next week...doesn't appear to be based on the international version though.

Did read somewhere that they plan to release a Superbit edition of the international version, so that might be an option.

They only put "Leon" on it when its the International version.

And the version released next week is 133 minutes - it IS the International version. The US cut is 109 minutes.

Ah, cool stuff. I've never seen the movie, and had wanted to buy the previous international version, but I never saw it for less then 30 bucks Canadian. Hopefully this version is more reasonably priced.

The best DVD upgrade ever? What makes it that?

When the original DVD was released in the US in 1997 it had nothing on it. At the same time, Region 2 got a special edition (with like 2 hours of features).

The new DVD is that special edition, but with the bonus of DTS.
