Welcome back to E3! This is the 23rd edition of the expo, and the first one in many years open to the public.
This thread provides an overview of the event and how to get the most out of it. New this year is an Attendees section due to the show being public this year.
What: The world's premier trade show for computer and video games
When: June 13 - 15, 2017 (press conferences start June 10)
Where: Los Angeles Convention Center
How: Live streams or via attendance
Website: https://www.e3expo.com / https://www.e3insider.com
The spotlight this year will likely be on Microsoft and the reveal of Project Scorpio. Of course, great experiences and surprises from Nintendo and Sony are to be expected as well. When: June 13 - 15, 2017 (press conferences start June 10)
Where: Los Angeles Convention Center
How: Live streams or via attendance
Website: https://www.e3expo.com / https://www.e3insider.com
We'll have the first good look at Super Mario Odyssey and Sony is bound to share more details on big titles such as God of War, Spider-Man and Days Gone.
EA and Ubisoft will have a lot to share as well, so I think it's gonna be a great show.
E3 Special Notes and Policy Reminders
Source: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=113677771Special Notes:
1.) During E3 (Saturday, June 10th *through* Thursday, June 15th) all reaction threads will be locked. A reaction thread consists of such things as "Wow Sony just won E3!", "God of War has the best graphics ever!", "Is the PS4 doomed now?", "Where is Final Fantasy VII?? Where's Kingdom Hearts 3!?", "Are you buying an Xbox One now?", "Does Warner Bros have anything left? They announced so many games!", "Does Nintendo have the best Western third party support of any console?", or anything else that is just a thread about immediate reactions to events. For the duration, these threads will be locked on sight. If you feel you have somethings important to say on these matters, either ask in the main conference threads, or write-up a really good thread on it and post it on Friday, June 16th.
2.) If you post a news thread, make sure it contains actual details of the news at hand. If your thread is simply Title: "OMG ANIMAL CROSSING 3DS 2 ANNOUNCED!" Body: "ON THE STREAM!" your thread may be locked and we reserve the right to junior you, since this goes against normal thread policies anyway.
3.) Do not post new news from E3 in a pre-E3 thread. Either make a new thread, or pick an existing thread made during E3.
Policy Reminders:
1.) Do not complain about the purpose of a thread. This includes complaining about people judging gameplay in a gameplay video thread, judging graphics in a screenshot thread, or calling something too nitpicky or biased in a review/technical analysis/critique thread. Instead, if you disagree, either post the reason (in detail) that you disagree with the point being made ("I think the graphics look great, just look at the shadowing and texture detail!", "I don't notice frame hitching at 60 fps personally, so it doesn't bother me.", "In my experience with the game, I found the encounter design to be great actually, for example..."), or simply avoid the thread if you feel you are unable to.
2.) If you feel there's a problem with someone breaking the rules, simply PM a mod and do not engage. There are only ~20 mods and tens of thousands of posts a day, so we simply cannot be everywhere and see every infraction without your help.
Other Notes:
1.) All other rules obviously still apply. For specifics, see our FAQ forum and the Terms of Service. For general information on how to post in high volume, high tension situations, read this note by EviLore.
2.) If you have any questions, please PM a moderator. If a question comes up frequently, we will post an update here. If not, you will receive an answer via PM. Due to volume, your answer may not be immediate.
This section is mainly for people who will attend the show. If it's your first time pay attention. First and foremost, the E3 2017 Attendee Policy:
I would also like to add that you should be respectful of those who are at E3 to do their job.
- No one under the age of 17 is permitted.
- Photo ID is required. E3 Show Management or an E3 security officer may require attendees to show ID at any time.
- The E3 badge is non-transferable and is the property of E3 Show Management. E3 badge swapping and/or sharing is strictly prohibited. Any attendee found using another attendees badge will have the badge confiscated and will be removed from the premises. The E3 badge must be worn at all times.
- All registration fees are nonrefundable.
- Harassment is not acceptable. Cause for removal includes, but is not limited to:
- Verbal harassment;
- Intimidation or threats;
- Physical violence;
- Stalking; and/or
- Sexually explicit, suggestive or provocative behavior
- E3 does not tolerate discrimination or abusive treatment in any manner, including, but not limited to, in relation to national origin, ethnicity, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, marital or veteran status.
- If E3 Show Management determines in its sole discretion that an attendees attire, including, but not limited to, cosplay, violates E3 policy, then E3 Show Management reserves the right to require the attendee to change into appropriate attire and/or remove the attendee.
- If attendees have concerns or issues about their safety, the decorum of other attendees, or other matters, then they should contact a security officer or E3 Show Management (located at West Hall Room 509).
- No photography, videography or other recording of the E3 show floors is permitted prior to June 13, 2017 at 12 PM PST.
- Each attendee assumes all risk and danger incidental to E3, whether occurring prior to, during or after E3, and agrees to hold harmless E3 Show Management, including, but not limited to, the Entertainment Software Association, in the event of harm incurred during or incidental to E3.
- Each attendee assumes all risk and danger of being injured as a result of performances and/or demonstrations at E3, and agrees to hold harmless E3 Show Management, including, but not limited to, the Entertainment Software Association, in the event of harm incurred as a result of performances and/or demonstrations at E3.
- By entering the E3 show, each attendee consents to release any and all rights such attendee may otherwise have to the attendee's likeness, and to any photographs, recordings or other images owned or created by E3 Show Management, by any exhibitor personnel, and by any member of the media. Attendee grants E3 Show Management, all exhibitors, and media the right, permission, and license to use attendee's name, voice, image and likeness, and releases E3 Show Management, all exhibitors, and media from liability resulting from such use.
- If an attendee violates this policy, causes any disruption and/or violates any other E3 rules or policies, then E3 Show Management reserves the right to remove the attendee, confiscate the badge and prohibit reentry at future events.
- The decisions and judgments made regarding potential violations of any E3 policy shall be made in the sole discretion of the Entertainment Software Association, E3's owner, and are final and cannot be challenged.
- Click here to see the E3 Weapons Policy for further guidance.

Is Identification Checked On-Site?
All E3 Attendees will be required to show a government issued photo ID (driver's license or passport) in order to pick up their badge holder on-site and gain access to the event. Do not use a fictitious name. The name on your ID and the name on your badge must be the same. E3 Show Management and/or E3 Security Officers may request attendees show ID at any time.
How do I get to Los Angeles Convention Center?
Check here for information on various ways to travel to LACC: https://www.e3expo.com/attendee/2906/attendee-housing-travel/
Complimentary shuttle bus service is available to all E3 Attendees who have booked reservations in the official hotel room block.
Where should I park when I arrrive at the LACC?
The Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) has 5500 parking spaces with easy public access. The parking fee is $25/day. In addition to the LACC parking, there are multiple lots available nearby, including at L.A. Live adjacent to the LACC.
What dining options are available at the LACC?
Concessions schedule and availability are subject to each show. Best is probably to check http://www.discoverlosangeles.com/what-to-do/restaurants for a good guide on LA food culture. That way you can see more of Los Angeles than its Convention Center.
Any particular items I should bring to E3
I would recommend bringing these items:
- Deodorant
- Water Bottle
- Hand Sanitizer
- Comfortable Shoes

Discord rooms for at least the conferences of Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo should be provided. I won't post the address to these here directly.
Instead ask in each respective thread. Twitch can of course be used as well.
