EA PSP launch titles interview

IGN has this interview with the producer. Oddly, they didn't implement franchise modes. They'll probably put it in shorter seasons like Madden. 6 launch titles will have the casual gamer drooling for PSP's this March. NFS rivals and the Street series are sure to reel in the teenie boppers.

They need to get an SSX out ASAP.

First we need to see how they get around NBA street's 4 turbo console configuration. If they can nail it, then SSX is a no brainer (please keep the soundtrack in the same genre as the console title's).

NBA street series is definitely nice, and if it's anything like the console games, the PSP version should be great.

I agree however, bring on the SSX game as soon as possible, even if it's an SSX3 port!

You mean an SSX Tricky port.

They should put their money and effort into a new Road Rash or Strike compilation, darnit.

Although I loved SSX3. How was that N-Gage game? Looks okay, but the framerate looked crap. Did it play anything like the console games, or more like the old un-fun PSX games like Coolboarders and the huge other range of them?

Was Steep Slope Sliders made by SEGA? I'd like them to bring that back. I played the hell out of the demo.

In terms of the concept, that is carried across all of the titles. We don't call it "Owned" outside of Need For Speed, but we have a "Winner"/"Loser" stamp in Tiger Woods or FIFA or MVP. We'll still brand the other person that you play. Same concept across them all. You can go out and play as many people as you like, fill that profile to the brim -- there's no cap on how many people you can "Own" ... or how many people can "Own" you, unfortunately!

And we'll track every single game between you and another individual over time, so that not only does it tag the last result between you two with the "Owned" brand [or whatever applies in that game], but if you and I play a hundred times, we'll have that win/loss record. That's by game area breakdown, usually, as well -- so, it'll show how many Drifts against one another ... everything like that, absolutely.
Nice inclusion...I imagine we'll be seeing hacked save files before long though ;)

I'd love to see a new SSX game on the PSP. Tricky and SSX3 both were awesome, addictive fun, although I'll have to remind myself to not throw my PSP across the room when I get frustrated trying to get enough points or beating the clock! :)

Tricky is ok... SSX3 is the shit.

Give a damn really though, just bring an SSX game to the PSP and I'm a happy lil camper.

How many triggers does the PSP have?I really don't see how the controls will work for Street if it only has 2...

It has 2, but the XBOX only has 3 cause it uses the the left analog click. The way the XBOX version does it is that it cycles beteween the animations each time you hit the same button combo. so if you hit all 3 turbos you might get a roll dribble, and next time you might do a cartwheel.
