Looks like this trademark filing was made just recently. Could it mean something?

They probably just want to use the name for a new extreme sports franchise.

But seriously, next gen System Shock would rock hard.

Dumbed down console crap.

Oh, wait, it's EA so it'll be even more dumbed down (multi)console crap!

You heard it first.

Why is it necessarily dumbed down? System Shock means nothing to casual gamers, so the only reason to make it would be to use its existing premise and atmopshere. And if Figth Night on 360 is indicative of their multi console crap, then I say welcome to it.

See Deus Ex: Invisible War.

DX meant nothing to casuals, and they still fucked it up by pandering with the sequel.

Please EA.

You know you can't do it.

You know your designers are incapable, and on top of that rendered almost completely useless due to your "edgy" marketing department that caters to what they think is the lowest common denominator.

Stay away from it, EA. Just keep churning out mega-license after mega-license. Plunge gloriously to the ground. And when the entire company is finally destroyed due to your complete inability to bring anything but brain-dead sequels to the market...

At least you'll be able to hold your head up and say "Well, we didn't ruin System Shock".

That makes too much sense, Stinkles. I'd really hope so but my best guess is that they will turn it into something... worse than SS1/2.

Besides same things were said about DX2, Thief 3 and Serious Sam 2 and those games turned out pretty awful (with Thief 3 being the best of them).

EA and PC gaming even doesn't get off the tongue easily :lol *sigh*

Great.

They're gonna fuck it up.

Just what the world needs... another great game's legacy destroyed.

Just do what the smart people do, let it die and stay great in our minds.

Edit: Holy crap, 100th post... wtf.

They probably did that to prevent other publishers from making a SS game, not necessarily to make one themselves.

EA is lame like that.

You guys do know Doug Church works for EA, right?

Actually I didn't know that. Still, EA Trax......

They should let Maxis develop it. System Shock 3 could be a really cool sim game where you play as an insane AI, and you have to make sure all the rampaging mutants/zombies are kept happy and fed and that they have plenty of bathrooms. Highly antcipated expansion packs would include System Shock: Hot Date, System Shock: University Edition, and System Shock: Black ICE

While this is true, EA does have a previous trademark filing thats marked as "LIVE". The fact they're updating the mark might mean something, and this is considering even Sony have done this with the Lemmings mark(which was still marked as LIVE).

I have to admit ive never played the system shock games, but from the looks of it, it could fall right into the studio that made riddick and Condemned. They're great at creating the whole atmosphere, Visual and Audio.

Edit: Monolith

NOOOO, I was so hoping someone else would buy the rights of EA. Too late.

How about remaking System Shock 1 and 2 with a new engine. These games are in so desperate need of a remake.

System Shock although good is just way too outdated plus for its time tried to do to much with its limited technology. A remake on the other hand..........

Please dont say Konami, I don't want System Shock to be turned into animu ^_^ tripe

I'm glad I'm not the only one getting fed up with all this anime garbage that seems to have taken over all other art styles.

Hmm, does EA have any good developer under them that can do this? Well, I guess they have a deal with Valve in place now to publish their stuffs. But still, can't really think of any "EA team" that has done great work lately.

Irrational is doing BioShock and I'm quite happy about that, well, hopefully it won't wind up like "The Lost" which got scrapped due to no publisher :(

EDIT: Hey, their (Junction Point) job listings are pretty good, gonna have to keep this company on my list. :)

Also, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel.

Welll....to be fair that was a console iteration. Never played it, but it was dumbed down to hack and slash like Dark Alliance. I heard Dark Alliance has it's fans, never played it though. If BOS was Fallout 3...there would've been blood.

Ah, yes, I see, I see, I actually had the same kind of problem playing through the Marathon trilogy.

Except that a) it hasn't taken over anything, and b) the fact that you don't like something doesn't make it garbage.

I haven't seen any information about this game (which may or may not be happening), nor has anyone else, but since EA is involved, I know in advance it will be lousy.

When did the anti-EA sentiment on this forum become comical?

companies do this often, but it's not always a guarantee they're making a game on it....if it does happen, expect it to suck of course. BioShock FTW!!!!!!

lol, my post wasn't meant to be a troll, it was a serious question as to whether EA has a team under their belt that would be able to do a decent job with a System Shock game?
