Early Morning Nausea...

If I wake up before 7am, I can't keep anything I eat down for at least a few hours (well I can sometimes, but can barely keep it in). For instance, this morning I had an apple and some water and I still am having trouble keeping it down 3 hours later.

I normally don't mind this because I so rarely wake up before 10 in general, but for the next quarter I have to get to campus by 8am frequently.

Any suggestions? Is it something that just going to bed earlier will help?

It could be anxiety and stress related. I used to be like that but instead of being nauseas I'd get gassy and the feeling of having to move my bowel.

Do you smoke and / or drink lots of coffee and/or have lots of stress atm? I can relate my morning nausea problems directly to that.

Yeah, I can't hold down food within an hour or two of waking up, but then it's also troublesome if I wait too long. And since I really dislike vomiting, I just wait a while before eating and make sure I'm really awake and adjusted. It's not even like I have to eat much. I once woke up hungry, took a bite of a bagel and hurled almost immediately. I've had a tough time having an appetite shortly after waking for pretty much my entire life, so I'm really not sure what the problem is.

So many people with this problem here......is this typically American or something? I was also amazed with the number of people having trouble with wet farts (don't really know anymore how you call it) in another thread.

I'm getting the impression the food in America is of lesser quality than here in Europe (I'm from The Netherlands), I don't know of any of my friends or family having problems like this and I can eat anything any time, doesn't matter at all.

I generally just don't eat in the mornings. I wait until lunch. But I have a lot of stomach problems, and I suspect that most of it is related to stress. I might have an ulcer too; I'm not sure.

I don't eat breakfast on weekdays because of the nausea thing, when I have to get up at like 7 to get ready for class.

But on weekends when I get up at like 9 or 10, I eat big hearty breakfasts and have no problem what-so-ever keeping it down.

I used to have a hard time eating in the morning too. I just don't have an apetite. But lately I've been working on that. Whether its some coffee and a cream cheese bagel, or some cereal.

most of the time during the work week I get like this, I used to think it was just milk that did it but it doesn't really matter what I eat. I'm going to attribute it to the fact that I hate waking up so much that it actually makes me physically ill.

Maybe it was all that fiber from the beer you've been drinking?
