Ok. My mom is trying to unload some of the art we have around our house. We have different values of paintings, all of them framed. The highest valued one is worth about 2400 dollars. The lowest is probably worth about 500 dollars.

Now, I've done plenty of buying on Ebay, but I've never sold anything on ebay. She wants to put these on Ebay. So I turn to GAF for help. What are some suggestions on shipping? I was thinking of using a deal such as if the auction hits a certain amount, we'll foot the bill for shipping. Being that its art that's worth a lot, I also want to put a bare minimum on the auction, as well.

Do you all have any suggestions on what I should do? Should I even USE Ebay? I've got a paypal account, but due to my bad credit I don't have any credit cards at the moment... will they let me pay for the auction via my paypal account?

Any advice you all could give me on selling this stuff would help me out a LOT. Thanks in advance. :)

If a painting is worth $2000 and you want to get at least $1,500 out of it, then be sure to set that as the reserve price. Reserves are important because if it goes for less than you would have liked, you can refuse to sell the item.

As for paying for shipping, I'd suggest that you find out how much shipping would cost you first. Considering that these are highly valued paintings, the shipping costs of packaging are like to be somewhat large; especially if the person you end up selling to is halfway accross the country or even the globe. IMO, shipping should also be left up to the buyer because of the varying costs of insuring an item.

That's all I really have to suggest. Make sure to include as much information as possible in your auction, pictures (including close up details) and any proof of authenticity. Good luck!
