Musashi Samurai Legend
The second release of the Musashi series makes its debut on the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system featuring exhilarating, fast-paced, action-packed gameplay utilizing 'manga-shaded' graphics. Like a true samurai, Musashi's powers of observation will pay off in the heat of battle as he channels this energy to learn his opponents' techniques. A new mode of his protective services has also been employed, in which he literally carries his characters to safety.

Vespire is a land that has been advanced by the invention of the Nebulium Engine. The political power of this realm is controlled by a giant corporation called Gandrake that developed the Nebulium Engine. Gandrake was conspiring to dominate not only Vespire but also the entire world through nebulite, the energy source for everything in this world.
Meanwhile, the princess of the Mystics--a people gifted in the arts of magic--summons a hero in order to save her people from Gandrake's conspiracy.
A young swordsman named Musashi was summoned to this world by her spell through time and space. The princess who summoned Musashi has already been captured by Gandrake, and Musashi must rescue her in order to return to his own world.
Pursuing the mastery of swordsmanship, Musashi continues the journey of his training. He aims to become the best swordsman in the world! He was suddenly surrounded by a strange blinding light and was summoned to a place that he'd never seen. In order to return to his own world, he sets off to rescue the princess who summoned him. How else can he show off the sword skills from his daily training? He has a weak spot for girls but shows no mercy to evil.
FEATURES
Duplication
One of the new systems in this game is called duplication. Use duplication to learn enemies' techniques, and give them a taste of their own medicine. Some techniques let you attack multiple enemies at once or destroy them with a single powerful blow.
1. Lock onto the enemy and position yourself to fill up the blue gauge (focus gauge) on the left side of the screen as you evade the attacks.
2. As soon as the focus gauge fills up, Musashi will start glowing. Now he is ready to duplicate.
3. While the focus gauge is full, wait for the enemy to attack and press the ? button.
4. If your timing is right, you will acquire the enemy's technique.
5. You can use techniques you have duplicated at any time throughout your journey.
ENEMIES
Voltrabot
It ruthlessly throws punches at Musashi with its electro-charged retractable arms. Musashi can duplicate the technique Galva Thrust from them, a move that stuns enemies with electricity.
Ninjaroids
Annoying enemies that move quickly and attack with huge steel claws. Musashi can duplicate the technique Chain Attack from them, which lets him unleash a flurry of slashes..
MANGA SHADING
Manga Shading is a drawing technique where characters, rocks and buildings are drawn with distinct shades of colors like in manga (Japanese comics), and the backgrounds are expressed with finely drawn soft colors like in Japanese animation. This allows for a more in-depth drawing than the conventional cell shading technique and is best suited to express a courageous Musashi in his world. It creates a fusion between the comic book and animation influences, which is the original drawing method for MUSASHI: Samurai Legend.
1. The graphics projected in the game are truly like comic books, so the player can experience a game like no other, like controlling an illustrated drawing in a comic book.
2. The characters that appear in the game are outlined with a thick line like in a comic book.
3. The dialogues in the cut scenes are expressed with word balloons, making it feel like a 'moving comic book.'
Musashi Samurai Legend is the sequel to Square's 1998 hit Brave Fencer Musashi, originally for the PlayStation. The game first made an appearance during the E3, with a trailer highlighting its new toon-shaded look. The bold, cel-shaded direction is closest in appearance to the painted textures seen in Sony's recent Dark Cloud 2.
From what we have seen so far, the game will be chock full of platform-action RPG gameplay, and it looks like it plays very similarly to its PS One predecesor. Stay tuned for more information and media.
