Elden Ring has shipped over 30 million copies worldwide

From changed the industry with this game, and they've been justly rewarded. The game hardly ever goes on sale so we're looking at upwards of a billion dollars in revenue after platform-holder's cut, against development and marketing costs of maybe. . .$50-100 million?

I will never understand how this became such a big hit after like 6 fs games. Praise the sun

The main game was very good and first Souls game I actually liked.

The expansion though just didn't do it for me as it seemed repetitive and overly hard.

I agree that the expansion wasn't as good as their previous expansions have been. I think if anything the game was already on the verge of being just too big, and adding another huge chunk of content pushed it over the line and made playing through it again a bit of a slog.

Double dipped on PS5 and PC. One of the greatest games ever made. A true landmark title. Biggest strength is the amazing world building. It's just second to none. So much fun traversing the lands between.

This puts it firmly in "elite" territory, per Miyamoto. :messenger_sunglasses:

I bet it does another 10 million in the next 5 years.

(Some of you are really overhyping Switch 2 sales)

Now I'm hoping From can take a break from open worlds and focus on smaller, linear titles for the next couple of years. God, I would kill for Sekiro 2...

Say what you will about the expansion, but the base game remains one of the greatest video games of all time. Absolutely deserved.

Incredible game and well deserved.

My 11 year old boy is currently on NG+3 and as a gamer dad, I couldn't be prouder.

The influence of From Software and Soulslikes on the industry is pretty wild

You can basically think of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as a turn-based Soulslike game, the mechanics of From games are in every nook and cranny of that one

I fear its success will hurt From Software, they will chase the money now.
LMAO? Their next project after Elden Ring was.....Armored Core 6

They literally used the ER money to resurrect a niche, dead for a decade franchise that nobody loved or appreciated back in the day

If there's anyone you can expect to not chase money around, it's From Software

Nightreign is chasing money. Duskblood is a cashgrab trying to capitalize on Switch 2 hype.

You think Armored Core 6 begun development after Elden Ring?

Playing this for the first time was like a constant orgasm. The dlc Introduced a limited sekiro parry, but they also needed a dodge rework, and REMOVING INPUT QUEUING.

With FROM making Multiplayer experiment projects, Imagine MMO-lite Elden Ring being their next big thing.

I am not sure people will love or hate it.

That is a great news!

Never finished it despite really liking the game. I think I got to the part where you need to cross a bridge to a castle while being bombarded and then something else came up and I never got back to it. Maybe that means that I secretly didn't like it all that much or finishing wasn't all that important, but still, I really should get back to it one of these days. That is when Game Pass stops dropping bangers all the time.

All-time great that deserves all the success in the world, my avatar has not changed since it released lol. Shadow of the Erdtree was a GOAT-tier DLC/expansion and while Nightreign looks cool I'm ready for the next big FROM game (no, not Duskblood).

As long as they keep the quality they can give me all the ER-like games they want. We get sequels and re-skinned open world games of major franchises all the time, nobody complains about getting more of a good thing.

Others were saying its terrible so was not sure if i want to spend on it
If you really liked the game, the DLC is a sure bet. It's almost like a new game, it could have been a stand-alone title. What do you like/dislike more about the main game? I will give you an overall idea of what to expect from the expansion.

So successful they're now abandoning what gave them their identity for online multiplayer slop
As a side note, please allow me to address one thing. As previously mentioned, this is an online multiplayer title at its core, but this doesn't mean that we as a company have decided to shift to a more multiplayer-focused direction with titles going forward.

guess who said that? a liar apparently!
