So the reports that the Switch 2 version was performing worse than PS4/Steam Deck and struggling to run the open world were…correct? Welp.

Don't expect substantial AAA third party support past 2027

That was several months ago, the latest reports said the game was running fine

The rest of your post is nonsense.

Fromsoft themselves says

"performance adjustments"

So that coupled with the early reports seem to track to me?

Also some youtube channel called Nintendo Life is not a great source to me

How many (multiplatform) AAA studios will be able to afford making games that target PS6 only without scalability? We think things are bad now, wait until another spec increase and further inflation.

You misunderstood what I said, the early reports said the game was unplayable, and then we had other reports at PAX West saying the game ran better. I put the Nintendo Life video as it was the best filmed version I could fine, but other confirmed it ran better.

I guess they wanted to release it in the coming weeks and since they're still working on it, they decided to delay it rather than missing the ideal launch period.

Like FF7 Remake Integrade releasing in January 2026 even if it looks pretty finished from what we could see

Yes because from soft it's the top of the class at producing well optimized games. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I just want a Dark Souls 1 full remake ok? and it will never happen and for no reason we got Demon Souls.

They'll target PS5 as a low spec (720p 30fps), which is considerable step up from Switch 2. Hardcore gamers who care about framerates and resolutions will be on the PS6/Xbox Melrose/high end PCs.

It runs like shit on everything so even with the delay it's hard to get excited.

But still Elden Ring on a portable console is pretty cool.

I had a feeling they would delay it since so far nothing was showed. Seems like the Switch 2 might have being in a pretty bad shape, so more time to polish looks inevetable.

Outlaws and Cyberpunk are running fine though.

I have eldin ring on 3 different platforms already.. where is Dusk Bloods? after night reign I am eagerly awaiting that one.

I'd be tempted to double dip here if they can get it running at 60fps. Doubt it though as they couldn't get that to happen on this generation of consoles.

In-game elements newly added for "ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition" are also scheduled on other platforms as a paid digital release. Please note that this release date is also rescheduled to 2026."

Wait a minute. Paid DLCs for PC players as well??!!

Don't really want more ER, I want a new game. Unfortunately ER has become FR/Bandai's GTA5.

I don't mind the extra time for polish. I recently did a playthrough on PC so not really craving for another playthrough. It's gonna be cool to have it on Switch 2 though. I hope they really make an effort with the port and push it out in pristine condition.

And then when they don't recoup their budget they'll wish they made their game more scalable. The writings on the wall. The power race is over.

I could get behind Bloodborne, and Dark Souls I & III remakes/remasters solely to add better fps along with a jump button. No not that run and tap trash an actual Elden Ring jump button.

tarnish

verb

tar·nish ˈtär-nish

tarnished; tarnishing; tarnishes
Synonyms of tarnish
transitive verb

1: to dull or destroy the luster of by or as if by air, dust, or dirt : soil, stain

2 a : to detract from the good quality of : vitiate
his fine dreams now slightly tarnished.

b : to bring disgrace on : sully
the scandal has tarnished his reputation

I understand the reasoning, and i take my hat off at From marketing team for this successful troll, but still calling the switch 2 edition of elden ring "tarnished" is wild.

You'll take your 30fps and enjoy it, I guess?
I imagine that will be the case and if it is then I'll give it a miss. I've already got the game and expansion on PS5 and have spent over 200 hours playing it. I like the idea of playing it on the go though.

Ngl elden ring kinda lost me at shadow of the erdtree. I wanted to like it but it just didn't grip me the same way. The environments were pretty, though!

In the same boat, but 400 hours playing. Yikes!

It's wild that doing a pretty straightforward port takes over a year, but absolutely a positive thing that they are giving it the time it needs, it won't come cheap to the publisher.

"I need to find any Elden Ring thread for this video... yep, that'll do!"

That weapon seemed like it would be great fun to have on NG, so I used Cheat Engine to have it on a new character. The novelty wore off very quickly.

I'm still curious about the additions to Tarnished Edition and if any of the newer additions to Nightreign will influence it further. They may be cooking up some surprises for us.
