For the small community of ESO players here, ZOS has a big roadmap in place for the game this year, from quality of life improvements, to visual improvements, to improvements that help the game feel more fun in general. They are also switching most of the paid content to cosmetics and housing bonuses, while moving the main expansions to the base game over time so that more base game players can enjoy expansion content without needing to pay extra.
New cosmetic 'tome' system (the battle pass system):
Update 49 is currently in PTR, here are the changes:
They had a stream earlier this week showing off Update 49 and explaining it all in detail. Regarding the 'mounts for gold' update, they will be changing it so that mount types that were previously accessible only through real money purchase, will now be purchasable with in-game gold at specific areas and towns. Which means if you want a guar mount, you'll have to travel to the lore-specific area where you would find such a mount. Also they will be priced a bit lower and the prices will vary depending on mount-type. A huge improvement over the usual 'everyone sells the same 3 horses' system they used to have.
They will be doing simultaneous release because they are also heavily working on crossplay between all platforms.

Also what's coming:
- Hard Mode for the Overworld (Yet to be revealed but rumored to be more than just a numbers tweak)
- Solo Dungeon option for Dungeons
- New stories and quests for previous expansions (Thieves Guild and Sheogorath)
- Large Scale World Events (That big moving wall that they teased)
- Dynamic World Events (Multi-stage world events)
- Separate PvP Progression System
- New Holiday Events and Trials
- Treasure maps now stackable in inventory (won't take up a slot per map)
