I thought Fassel was still a front runner?

*shrug* Who knows, at this point I'm thinking we're destined for the basement of the NFC East as now rumors are Portis is going to be traded and a lot of other players want out.

If the prophetic dream I had last night comes true, not only will the Giants win, but I will be recruited to the team this week to return kickoffs, be on the defensive line, and play center. I will sack Brady at least once. :lol

Then Strong Bad will show up for some reason.

that's horrible... how many thankless 1,000 yard seasons has he had with Washington now?

I want to see Al Davis on the sideline, argueing with the Refs on why they won't penalize the other team for Illegal Forward Passing, or some other archaic term.

Ravens retain Rex Ryan

The Ravens have named Rex Ryan defensive coordinator and assistant head coach. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh will make the announcement during a news conference this afternoon at the team's training facility.

According to a high-ranking team official, Ryan signed a three-year contract worth $1.3 million to $1.5 million a season.

3 out of 4, all 1,200+ yard seasons, actually, and two 10+ rushing TD seasons. He also set a career high in receiving yards this season.

So I finalized my themed dinner menu for my annual Super Bowl party. Although my team was bounced early and I'm between a rock and a hard place (rooting for a division rival vs. rooting for a team of cheating evil bastards), at least my guests and I will eat well! :D

New York
Manhattan (Red) Clam Chowder
Brooklyn Style Pizza
White Castle Burgers (sadly I live in Virginia, so I will have to choose the frozen supermarket version and not the real thing)
New York Cheesecake
Brooklyn Lager

New England
New England (White) Clam Chowder
Shepherd's Pie
Deep-Fried Fish Sticks (I was gifted a deep-fryer for Christmas :D)
Boston Cream Pie
Samuel Adams Winter Ale

That's an amazing dinner but where's there a White Castle in NYC, unless you're covering NJ?

I was moping around yesterday and the wife called me out on football withdrawal. I refused to admit to it. =(

In other news, Moochball coming to DC?

If it means no Fassel, then I'm sold.

Some more Mooch connections:

Certainly looks like Larry Brooks is a strong candidate to be defensive line coach. He interviewed today. Saw him at Redskins Park. Brooks was Greg Blache's defensive line coach in Chicago and they also worked together in Green Bay. (He's part of the Mariucci family, also, for what that's worth).

"That's Blache's right-hand man," one NFL source said. "There's a lot of trust there. If he's in there today, then I'm telling you that's Blache's guy."

Brooks, 57, is already versed in the technique and terminology that Blache teaches - Blache was formerly Washington's D Line coach before his promotion to head of the defense on Saturday - and they have a long history together. Brooks spend 2006 with Arizona and has worked for Seattle, Chicago, Green Bay and Detroit as well. He was also a member of Steve Mariucci's staff with the Lions for his two seasons there - for those of you playing the connect-the-dots game at home - and worked under Mariucci's mentor - Mike Holmgren - for nine seasons in all. Mariucci and Brooks coached together for two years in Green Bay. (West Coast in the house).

I don't see it, I like Mooch, but I don't know why he'd go there.

I'm thinking maybe a Martyball there.

Not a chance a) Snyder wouldn't ever ask him again and b) Marty would never accept it. Especially not without full control, which it doesn't seem like any skins coach will have next year.

I'd imagine they'll be pretty busy, but what about Five Guys? Best burgers in DC/VA area. Wish they had one up here in this part of NY.

Yea, and don't forget all that talk between Gibbs and Holmgren about retiring. Whatever happens, it's really eyebrow-raising how little Gregg Williams was liked. Saunders I wasn't suprised about. But I thought Gibbs liked Williams. I guess not! :lol

Anyway, I'd be psyched for Mariucci. At least he'd give good postgame interviews that would one day show up in a Coors Light commercial.

Yea, they're OK. I've had them since before they got huge. Now they're expanding up and down the East Coast. They've got a few locations in Philly now, NY can't be too far off. They're good every once in a while, but they're a bit overrated if you ask me. I could be biased towards the greatest burger known to man (In N Out), however.

Gibbs didn't like Williams? I thought he said he hoped Williams was the next coach/gave him his vote?

Yea likewise, I actually didn't realize they were expanding till my bro called me from Florida and said there was one down there, so I checked and they seem to be in almost every east coast state. Never had In N Out, wheres that?

sjax went with the 24th pick of the first round, which we got from cincy.

its better to get lineman with high picks, especially o. tackles

Watching the Pats press conference, I love how Bill Belichick answers his questions.

"Coach what do you think about the Super Bowl being a truly worldwide event?"

"You probably know more about that than I do. [pause] I don't know much about how worldwide it is, but what I would like to know a little bit about is the New York Giants."

:lol

Week in and week out he answers all these questions the same way, what are the reporters thinking!

"If you win on Sunday you will be 19-0. What do you think of an undefeated season?"
"Well we are only thinking about winning on Sunday. The New York Giants are undefeated in the post season..."

wtf! :lol

I go to school in DC, but I'm from Philly originally, but yeah Five Guys is a little overrated. I feel like its more hyped down here though. Regardless, its still nice to go there every so often.

That's not even it. Kiffin's staff and player decisions are the ones that boggle the mind and actually make me agree with Davis. :\

Btw- I was going through my mom's car hold the other day and I found a few awesome old stuff including my old Raider hat from when I was a kid and this little gem:

nozd3p.jpg

:lol I took out my pic, but you're supposed to put your picture in that hole. The whole book is about getting owned by the Broncos until you go in as a second string QB and pwn them.

Couldn't find my old programs or banners from the Coliseum, though. :(

When my last LA Raiders shirt was more holey than righteous it was truly a sad, sad day for me. :(

I'd buy some new shit but most of the stuff I find on eBay is a painful reminder how awful society's collective sense of fashion was in the late 80s and early 90s. :lol

Be on the lookout for him in the stands, with his sweet Gold 49'er Jacket, like earlier this season!
