Elite Dangerous: Odyssey | Launch Trailer

Very excited to see how this goes.

Interested to see how they meld the FPS and ship-based systems. Will there be Combat/Exploration/Trading benefits to being on foot? Will combat as a shooter contribute to your combat Elite rank?

Yeah Ribi sort of self-owned there, because the game he is referring to has been in alpha for more than half a decade at this point ... meanwhile Odyssey is going Live tomorrow

Can you land on any planet? How will this work in VR? How did they add this so quickly when that star citizen game has been trying to do this for years

They delivered bits by bits throughout the years, rather than trying to have everything ready (would it ever be ready?) at launch.

I prefer their approach. And it's not done yet, they'll keep improving and adding.

I bought Elite Dangerous for the PS4, but I feel like it is one of those games that is meant to be played on a PC - similar to MS Flight Simulator. Saying that, if a PS5 version was released, I would be interested because this update looks great.

I bought this game way back at launch when i built my first PC but only played a few hours. Am I right in thinking that all content they've released excluding odyssey has been added free of charge to the base game? I remember them having other paid content but it seems odyssey is the only one available for purchase now.

i need a good space game to play. Might redownload this and if i enjoy it i could buy the dlc.

Way too overpriced for what it is, should have been far cheaper.
I dont know what previous dlc added but just watching the trailer that looks like a totally different game from what i remember playing. If it didn't say what it was i'd have not thought it was Elite. Seems like a massive update.

sadly they left VR behind...

good news though: No Man's Sky is fully VR and better than ever on Nvidia cards now thanks to:

VR is still supported, but when you get out of your ship or SRV there's a projected flat screen in front of you.

Wish they had a demo. Feels like the sort of game I'd put 2 hours into and never look back, or 2,000 hours and obsess over for years.
